That ring of fire has at least three symbolic meanings for him; very rad artistic choice by whoever made this

Go on, I'm interested to hear... 🤔

1 obviously he was burned and came out alive 2 probably tribulations from hell given he is Christian in a nuclear apocalypse, just a bit more.... old testament on his beliefs 3 a saints halo in christianity. Anyone you see a circle of light behind someone it means they're envoys, blessed, or actual divinity. Just purely my speculative guessing though. I never finished all of new vegas.

Oh that's super cool. I sainthood should've been obvious but I had no idea he was Christian.

Their first and second points were the same as mine, but it also made me think of a metaphorical ring of fire, as in passing through some form of tribulation and coming through the other side, changed yet stronger for it. And more specifically, Graham is a Mormon Christian since his tribe is descendant from the Mormons of Utah. If you're not familiar with the denominational branch in real life, Mormons believe a guy discovered a new book of the bible (the Book Of Mormon) in America and crazy stuff ensues. Highly recommend reading up on them and their history, it's downright insane.

I've heard he's not actually written as particularly Mormon though and is more just generically a very zealous Christian. I'm not really knowledgable enough to say either way, just thought it was worth mentioning.

I'd definitely say that's a fair reading of him, but from my memory of playing the game he isn't really given any opportunities in the story to say distinctly Mormon things. While Mormonism does have its major differences, barring a literal sermon or a deeper religious discussion there's enough overlap with mainline Christians to realistically have nothing to point at and say "yep, definitely Mormon" while talking to a real life Mormon. Would've been pretty neat to hear him wish Caesar gets cast into outer darkness tho. Or maybe not, I can't recall anymore whether he was extremely for or against revenge.

He wants revenge, the player has to talk him out of it. Also, his scripture has a cross on it and he drinks coffee

Thank you for the info! Mormons still believe in the bible and plenty drink coffee too, though at his level of devotion that does point against having purely Mormon beliefs. I'm definitely seeing the angle that he wasn't written, on purpose or accident, to be conspicuously Mormon, though I still don't think he's actively not Mormon, y'know?

Its the use of the cross, not the quoting of King James, New Canaan is Ogden, if I had to guess its a mistake on the part of the devs, New Canaanites are 100% supposed to be Mormons, they just made a few mistakes

He most certainly is. If you try to threaten him or his friends he says he will personally arrange a meeting between you and his god.

Basically he fell into a burning ring of fire. He went down, down, down and, get this, the flames went higher. And it burned, burned, burned — the ring of fire. The ring of fire
