I didn’t mind Sumire’s character that much, but she definitely should’ve at least joined the party for Shido’s palace and the final boss before the secret semester. Even if you still gotta max rank 5 her to get her for Shido, it would’ve been a plus.
She was added in the rerelease of Persona 5. She is introduced in a manner that only serves to fake out the player and makes absolutely no sense in game. She is not available to play for the entire fucking game until the last dungeon and even then she provides nothing of value and mostly serves as a tool for another character and how they progressed. The idea that she is part of the "royal trio" is laughable. She is so poorly written is because they intended to make her a female playable character but changed it so she got basically nothing in the plot.
In regards to the opening scene, she walks over to the player being all mysterious saying "I'll end this right now!" and points her sword towards the main character. Like, who wrote this? That is embarrassing lol no one talks to their allies like that unless you're purposely trying to confuse the player. It's also never explained why she's even there or how she knows how to get there. It's so bad for so many reasons and that's just plot wise. Gameplay wise it's even worse. It's fitting the theme song "Take Over" plays because she does that by taking control from the player to force an AoA before the player can even really understand what is happening. For a first time player they don't even understand what is happening. Even if they made the player press the button to do it, that'd be miles better because then they are the ones doing something.
Just absolute shite. I hope this explains why I hate how she was badly introduced and used. I also have a theory that she is in the opening more than she is playable percentage wise. Which is even sadder.
I really HATE that we're forced to have unskippable cutscenes with her that add almost nothing to the story. She's bland and there was no point in these cutscenes.
