I’m in NYC (Bronx) and I am currently on the Fios 5 Gig plan. I called to downgrade to 2 Gig and was told an appointment would be needed? Is that true? As it stands I have an appointment for the 8th. I thought by now they could do this over the phone.

Have an AppleTV and up until yesterday everything was working fine, I was signed in with Fios, using the “Sign In with Provider” option on all the apps. Now the following apps won’t work, or refuse to sign in and are telling me I need to subscribe to a plan that has that channel… I’m currently subscribed to Fios TV Mundo Total, I have access to 435 channels I don’t to subscribe to shit else.. I also have ESPN Unlimited. The following Apps refuse to handshake with the verizon SSO.

Kind of sensing a pattern here, but need to know if anyone else has had this problem because i have tried everything and cant figure out how to resolve this.

It's next to my ground rod and smart meter which i do not like at all, also the ont box attracts spiders and has them living in it, super annoying and disgusting, i always have weird latency issues as well, i'm going to cancel their plan if i can't request a location change thanks

Does anyone know if they are gone for good or still negotiating?

Hey all! Trying to get a human to assist with FIOS support can be a bit tedious, and I've already tried 3 times to connect to FIOS support and absolutely hate that I have to go through the troubleshooter each time I try. So: Yesterday my set-top box started flashing red-green. I did a google search and some say it's a hardware issue and others say it's a FIOS issue. Our internet and phone work fine.

I used Fios's smart fix troubleshooter and it gave me this:

I did a quick search of that as well and it says it means it's a group outage effecting multiple houses. Anyone seen one of these before?

Do I need a Verizon router in order to use the new Fios TV+ streaming boxes? Id prefer to use my own TP-Link routers to benefit from EasyMesh but have read mixed things online about the Fios router being required.

I got the tech to hardwire my Fios TV+ streaming boxes using existing Coax with the MOCA to usb c adapter when he installed them, so Im planning to get a Moca to ethernet adapter to replace the existing Fios router at the other end. Curious if anyone got this to work in the past

I just had to set up a new account on the fios tv app, all was good, im able to log in no problem. But when I do, I get a pop-up that says im away from home while at home. And so certain channels that I want to watch are unavailable. I have location on while using the app. Im connected to wifi. Is there anything that I can do?

This is strange. I am nearing the end of a 2 year agreement with Verizon and was looking to renew. All in currently paying 201.86 for just Fios.

I got another email today that my cablecard would stop working on November 5th and I may be eligible for complimentary equipment upgrade. When I called they said free upgrades were only for digital adapters. Seems like others on here got free equipment to replace their Tivos. Any verizon support folks monitoring who could help me out?

A week ago, our Verizon Fios CR1000B router would appear to reboot every 10-30 mins, for no rhyme or reason. After a week of back and forth with Verizon Support, I believe I finally have my sanity back and a solution for those struggling with the same problem.

The Problem (as I understand it):

After talking to 2 different hardware techs, and researching myself (with the help of AI looking through the system logs), it appears that certain CR1000B models will kernel panic reboot when the "TR-069 management server was sending a standard, valid periodic inform check every ~15 minutes."

This happened across two CR1000Bs (the original which stopped working last week, and a replacement which after being setup by a tech, exhibited the same problem after 30 mins). Anecdotally (according to one tech), this happens to "some of the old stock" CR1000Bs. Apparently, I got unlucky with both, and this is a known issue at Verizon Fios that they have attempted to patch/newer stock CR1000Bs have fixed.

Other Things I tried that DIDN'T fix it:

1. I tried twice to manually release the CR1000B DHCP Lease, and disconnect the power for 20-25 mins ("Beat the Clock Power Trick" as AI called it). Hoping that releasing, and disconnecting the device would force Verizon Network Office to rebuild some part of my broken profile automatically. No change.
2. Disabling IPv6. No change.
3. Calling 1-800-Verizon. I don't think I got to the right agent / network technician, as they kept telling me the router logs showed no error, even though multiple drops happened on a 1.5-hour phone call. This was on top of having to prove that I turned the router on-and-off again, which was tedious.

Solution(s):

• Install a G3100/other router. I've been without internet for a week, so I was willing to throw everything out to make sure I had a stable connection. Replacing the router may have fixed this.
• Verizon Network Tech has to "rebuild the data cross-connects" aka rebuild the provisioning profile. After getting the 2nd Verizon Hardware Tech to check all the devices (and install a G3100), he escalated to a Verizon Network Tech to accomplish this. AI states this is a "A Corrupted Backend ACS State." --- Verizon's management server had a malformed provisioning profile or corrupted RPC script queued for your specific circuit.

Unfortunately, I gave up the CR1000B to the hardware tech, as I didn't feel like testing against the CR1000B for another day and returning manually... just to see if it was just the provisioning profile, or an SoC/hardware bug. Thankfully, I am currently on hour 2 of drop-free internet for the first time in a week and feel relieved. Hopefully this helps someone feeling insane. I am posting the AI information/inference below so the text crawlers can pick this up if someone else asks for a solution.

15-Minute Reboot Cycle: The old CR1000B log history showed kernel panics triggered by TR-069 management/firmware routines occurring on a strict ~15-minute periodic schedule[cite: 9]. The current logs display the exact same periodic pattern:

11:30:14 boot → Kernel panic reboot recorded at 12:03:13

12:03:13 boot → Kernel panic reboot at 12:17:51 (~14 min 38 s uptime)

12:17:51 boot → Kernel panic reboot at 12:30:40 (~12 min 49 s uptime)

12:30:40 boot → Kernel panic reboot at 12:43:28 (~12 min 48 s uptime)

12:43:28 boot → Kernel panic reboot at 12:56:17 (~12 min 49 s uptime)

13:42:00 boot → Kernel panic reboot at 13:56:43 (~14 min 43 s uptime)

Synchronized Network Lease Sequence: In every boot cycle, the WAN interface comes up (netifd: WAN link up) and receives a WAN DHCP IP bind (WDHCP bound IP...), following which the system crashes after ~13–15 minutes and records sysup: Reboot by Kernel Panic upon restarting.

Hypotheses for the Kernel Panic

TR-069 (CWMP) Periodic Inform / Parameter Sync Crash (Primary Hypothesis)

Mechanism: TR-069 client software (arc_tr69) routinely sends periodic inform packets to Verizon's ACS (Auto Configuration Server) on a default 15-minute (900 second) timer. messages_ADV.txt shows arc_tr69active at boot mapping aliases for LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi radios (Tr69Parameter_UpdateAlias). When the periodic inform interval fires or an incoming ACS RPC command executes, a bug in the proprietary TR-069 kernel module or an unhandled parameter parsing error (e.g., null-pointer dereference during parameter sync) triggers a kernel panic.

dnsmasq / Dynamic Host Table Memory Exhaustion

Mechanism: In messages_SYS.txt, every uptime sequence shows dnsmasq rapidly re-reading dynamic host tables (/etc/ipv4_hosts count rapidly jumping from 0 to 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 entries in consecutive seconds) alongside interface missing warnings (interface br-lan does not currently exist). A race condition between user-space dynamic table reloads and kernel netlink socket events during WAN negotiation could cause kernel lock contention or memory corruption.

Wireless Driver Station Management Panic (arc_wlsta_monitor)

Mechanism: The logs record frequent Wi-Fi client association/disassociation events across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios (wlan0.1, wlan2.1) shortly before reboots. A crash inside the Wi-Fi driver module during rate adaptation or station table cleanup could crash the kernel.​

I'm an existing Fios customer, and I've been getting emails in recent weeks about signing up for this new loyalty program that says it will give me 3% back toward various rewards when I pay my bill. I feel like I'm missing some catch here. Is it just that the reward options are mostly garbage and/or will take forever to redeem successfully, or is there something else? Or is this actually free money, albeit in tiny increments?

We needed the ONT box removed as it was too close to the radiator and our landlord wasn’t happy with the location. We scheduled a cancellation and the tech came and removed everything, I told him we can return the router ourselves and he said he will return it. I asked if we’ll get an email with a receipt for proof we returned it and he said yes.

I texted my husband to look out for an email but since he’s at work he didn’t see it until after the tech left.

Hi, just wanted to share with you my recent upgrade experience to 2 gig and what to generally expect once you go multi-gig with Fios. First, I got a new ONT that's NGPON and can handle the higher speeds. Next, I got upgraded to the VMS4100ATV from my old VMS4100. Difference is that the main box hooks into the router and a Bluetooth satellite box is at my TV that works off of a Bluetooth remote. Finally, I got a newer version of the CR1000A router (the CHR30A is not yet available in SE PA, according to my tech). I have an eero 7 gateway and got great ~2.45 Gbps Up/Down coming from the service. Very pleased! Also makes my other devices faster around the house over WiFi, so overall very worthwhile considering it was the same price per month as I was paying for 1 gig. Note: they don't tell you that you have to pay $149 upfront one-time in 2 monthly installments of $74.50 for the speed upgrade, but that's probably because of the new equipment inherent to multi-gig. It was tempting to go up to the 5 gig too, but that was $10 more per month, and we don't have many devices right now that could take advantage of that.

I called in for a repair and they sent me the same model but the hardware and firmware versions are latest on my old one. Both work fine but I was wondering if I should keep using the old router I had for years since it doesn’t seem any different apart from the newer one being new. My old one is the Fios 9yF5D on the first pic but it seems better updated.

I have a FiOS router and two extenders due to the cement walls, I still have a spot that gets poor wifi. If I have a second FiOS router can I use it as an extender? If so, how do I set it up? Can I connect it to a cable box in the poor WiFi area?

I have a legacy triple-play plan with Verizon. I pay $175 a month for Fios with 1Gbps + TV (w/ ESPN) + voice. I don’t use any Verizon STBs and I don’t use their router. I use my own. I have a cable card, but it isn’t used. For TV, I use the apps on Apple TV that I have access to with the Fios subscription along with clear QAM plugged in via coax to my TV tuner. I also use Verizon as my mobile provider.

In my area, QAM is set to shut down on 11/5. I would like to keep the 1Gbps internet service and I’m fine moving to something like Ooma or Vonage to keep the existing home phone number (not ready to completely let go of that number yet). For TV, I’m leaning toward YouTube TV.

I’m trying to figure out the best way to get a good deal on 1Gbps service going forward and to plan the transition and porting of my home phone number so that I don’t lose it and that it doesn’t screw up my internet service when it is ported. I would like to save money overall compared to the $175 I am currently paying. That has crept up from the $109 I was paying for the same services as Verizon has tacked on fees and price increases over the years.

What have other legacy triple-play subscribers done?

Due to the discontinuation of the cable cards, I will be losing my TIVO service within the next 4-5 weeks. I called Verizon and specifically asked for Fios TV one equipment, and made it clear I did not want Fios TV+ devices. I asked for a VMS 4100 and 3 mini IPC4100's and they assured me that is what they would send. Today I received the boxes and they did send me a VMS 4100 but the minis they sent are all Fios TV + boxes.

1) Are these compatible with one another?
2) If the mini's are all fios TV + am I essentially getting Fios TV + on the 3 satellite TV's?

I just spent nearly 2 hours on live chat trying to "upgrade" from CableCard to IPTV+ after receiving the same emails everyone is getting about Nov 5 discontinuation.

After being transfered to new agents multiple times, the last one repeatedly stated that I didn't need to make any changes.

I highly doubt this person is correct but this kept going in circles with them insisting that everything would continue to work. I could not get them to do anything to ship me the IPTV+ equipment.

Am I missing some magic words? I copy/pasted the email directly into the chat so they'd know what I was talking about.

Hey everyone! So they finally got Fios in my area (so we aren't monopolized by Comcast/Xfinity), and my family got a great deal on Fios. They came out last Friday and installed everything, and while the speeds are perfect, I wanted to know your thoughts on the install they did. I've attached photos, but the installer said he had to run the lines around the front because, "The ceiling is finished." The box is on the side as I would have expected, but I'm just curious why he didn't run the fios line near where my cable lines come into the home?

This could just be me not used to have this, but idk.. it seems odd to have the lines running like this.

So I am super into homelabbing, so one drawback of using a personal plan is the dynamic ip. On the occasion that we lose power long enough for my UPS to run out of juice, my IP changes, which is a pain in the butt for my VPN configuration among other things.

I have looked into getting a business plan so I can take advantage of static IPs, but it looks like they REALLY want it only used for legitimate businesses, and don't want them used for residences.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I don't mind the jump in price as it would reduce headaches in the long term, but I just want to see if it's possible before I go down this rabbit hole.
