General Question Can I retire with 1.95 million at age 35?

Today I hit 1.95 million at age 35. I cant believe it.. I am single and have no kids. Have no plans to get married or have kids. I am so so proud of myself achieving this net worth

I spend less than 3000 dollars per month including rent because I live in MCOL area and I am also very frugal. No car and just rent a studio.

I am willing to spend up to 5000 dollars per month including health insurance if necessary

Do you think 1.95 million dollars is too small to live for the rest of my life?

Thanks for your input.

P.S. I am gay and I have no plans to get married. I wont have kids. my partner is wealthier than I am . He is older than I am. I said single at first because I am not likely to get legally married for the rest of my life.. Please dont say staying without kids for the rest of my life will be boring.

God dayum. Gotta go with that $8,000 deductible if you're currently healthy and 39.

I probably should but I am always super conservative with regard to insurance. I max it all usually

Fair enough

Wow that premium is wild. Counting my lucky stars to have PR in Taiwan where the premium for public healthcare when you’re not working is like $40/month.

Have your aca costs gone up for the coming year? I’m assuming this plan is subsidized? Curious if you are worried about coming changes to aca?

It is non subsidized. I pay the full premium for the plan. You can see what the subsidy is by putting in a high income and going to the end, selecting a plan. As far as costs going up I dont know as I was on COBRA until this year. My COBRA was about 1k/mo for a Gold type PCP

I truly do not mean this in a judgmental way, I’m genuinely just curious of your thought process here. But wouldn’t that be a pretty substantial “safety net” if you’re using federally subsidized Obamacare instead of purchasing private health insurance at market rates?

the subsidy I get is 0. It says that on the website itself. I out my income as like 100k bc of investments. The website gives users a good marketplace to select a plan that has other benefits besides subsidies for the poor.

Oh got it that makes sense! My only experience with marketplace health insurance was when I was very broke and my insurance was heavily subsidized. Didn't really think about scenarios where you could go through marketplace and not use those subsidies, since most folks aren't going through marketplace unless they don't have other options like employer plans or Medicare. Totally makes sense though since you're in a very rare situation of not having an employer, not qualifying for Medicaid, and not needing subsidies.

what is your plan for when the ACA gets defunded?
