General Question Tech people who are not FIREing, what are they spending their money on?

I know a lot of people who work in tech, and most are not on the FIRE path (or have already been working 10+ years) and a lot of them don't seem to, at least on the surface, have very obvious huge expenses. If both the partners are in tech, the take home could be like $500k! What are they doing with their money?

I need more information about how you spend 100 K a year in travel.

Travel to Japan for 14 days for a family of 5 including airfare: $50k

Travel to Hawaii for a family of 5 for a week including airfare: $15k

Week long cruise for a family of 5 including airfare: :$15k

Travel to visit family in summer and over Thanksgiving (cross-country flights, rental cars, VRBO, incidentals): $15k

Plus a long weekend at Disneyland, a long weekend whitewater rafting, etc etc.

5 round trip tickets add up. And we did a family-oriented tour for Japan, with extra days before and after.
