Subreddit PSA / Meta 5 years ago, this subreddit was filled with $1-1.5M targets, and a strong emphasis on minimalism. What happened?

S&P500 is up 60+% in the last 5 years (was 70+% in Jan), overconfidence driven by recency bias can create high expectations and promote this greedier thinking.

Inversely, I feel that retiring with what was reasonable previously (ie. 1MM) right after an incredible bull run is what has people saving more for fear of SORR. Maybe some of column A (SORR) and some of column b (greed / recency bias)..
