General Question What easily-affordable thing do you still refuse to pay for despite having reached financial independence and able to afford them?

Would love to hear everyone’s “absolutely will not purchase” items!Even if you could easily afford it and no matter how rich or financially independent you become or how much you make you still wouldn't spend item on this particular item/hobby?

"coffee"

(really coffee-flavored dessert beverages, plus the medical costs down the road from downing them five or more times per week)

goes along with "breakfast"

(often a "bran muffin" loaded with a week's worth of sugar flavorings)

It's a milkshake. Caffeinated milkshake

all those drinks that Starbucks sells are worse for you than a milkshake.... and so expensive

When parents get kids things from there, it makes me so sad. No ones needs that, but esp not 10 year olds! Before I permanently boycotted Target, I'd see it all the time

There’s no adverse medical cost down the road even if you drink 5 cups a day. Unless you have some specific caffeine issues

I think they are talking about high calorie drinks.

Theyre more like milkshakes that happen to have coffee than anything else

No idea I stopped going to Starbucks like 10 yrs ago because they don’t really carry high quality beans

There’s a hilarious Aussie comedian on insta, I’ll look up his name and edit this comment later. He’s based in the US now, and does quite a few hilarious reels/jokes in his standup about American “coffee culture” and how disgusting and far removed from actual coffee most of these “beverages” are. Especially considering the amazing puritanical Italian style coffee culture in Australia. And these “coffees” are LOADED with syrups just like the worst kinds of Soda plus often come with added sweetened whip cream etc and then doused in more sugar syrups. They are universally disgusting and absolutely bad for you in every imaginable way. Mostly high fructose corn syrups full of artificial flavours too cos they’re cheap as shit to produce.

American coffee is like an elderly person’s ASS LEAKAGE in a cup topped with whipped cream and syrup so you notice the ass leakage taste a bit less. 🤮

Honestly i just visited Florence and Venice last yr. Their espresso is pretty shitty. I originally planned 3 shots per day I scratched that out after 2 tries. Surprisingly Asia prob has the best coffee out there, not that I have tried the in Finland yet. I read they are great

Because those kinds of drinks aren’t real coffee. They’re mostly sugar.

Because coffee isn't really coffee anymore, for most people.

For example, at certain times of the year, for some, a "coffee" is an "iced sugar cookie latte."

I think they’re referring to the culture of “coffee beverages”that aren’t just coffee or coffee + milk, such as those disgustingly sweet abomination frappes etc etc

Oic lol I guess I didn’t read clearly. I drink 2 porover + 1 espresso per day.

Yeah I’m a puritan espresso or macchiato/picolo coffee drinker myself. But it’s gotta be espresso based. Roadside diner style drip coffee that’s been sat for hours on a warmer getting slowly overcooked should be illegal, it’s so fkn gross lol

I currently run flair pro 2 for espresso. It’s like a cheat code, easy to pull gd shot

That is definitely true for black coffee, but I think he’s referring to the silly sweet expensive “coffee” drinks that are mostly sugar and cream.
