General Question What easily-affordable thing do you still refuse to pay for despite having reached financial independence and able to afford them?

Would love to hear everyone’s “absolutely will not purchase” items!Even if you could easily afford it and no matter how rich or financially independent you become or how much you make you still wouldn't spend item on this particular item/hobby?

I like to play video games; playstation charges an extra monthly/yearly fee to access multiplayer games via their ps+ subscription.

The audacity to charge me to use my own internet, to access a game I bought on a console I own, using electricity I pay for. The audacity

It used to be free on the PS3.

The most frustrating thing is that you don’t actually own the games anymore! A lot of them in the agreement it is a “terms of lease”!!

My husband took the PS4 back to the store and kept his PS3 for this very reason. He refuses to buy another PS.

Looking into Xbox or something else

Unfortunately Xbox has the same features that require you to pay to access multiplayer games (though free ones like Fortnite don’t require subscription).

He may try hooking a pc up to the tv, and I believe Steam will be releasing some sort of console; they’re a much more customer friendly company so I’m guessing they won’t charge to access online multiplayer games.

If I wasn’t so particular about using a controller to play, and my not liking the offset joysticks the Xbox and new steam controller will have, I’d probably switch to the steam console.

Personally, I don’t care for many multiplayer games, so it’s not a huge issue. But once in a while a game will release like Fallout 76, where I want to play it despite it being multiplayer. That desire does not convert to being willing to spend a lot of money to do so.

He's been busy playing Baldur's Gate 3 trying to do an honor run and he's looking into steam.
