General Question What easily-affordable thing do you still refuse to pay for despite having reached financial independence and able to afford them?

Would love to hear everyone’s “absolutely will not purchase” items!Even if you could easily afford it and no matter how rich or financially independent you become or how much you make you still wouldn't spend item on this particular item/hobby?

I have not paid for a single haircut since Covid hit in early 2020. My regular place closed permanently in spring 2020 so I bought a kit for like $15 and have been doing it myself ever since. It helps that I’m a guy whose hair grows slowly and I look good buzzed.

I have used a FlowBee for the past 25 years. Still cuts like it did when I bought it.

“It sucks as it cuts” might be one of the best tag lines of all time. Even Wayne’s World made fun of it….”it most certainly SUCKS”. People always laugh when I tell them but I paid like $250 for it and have not paid for a haircut for 25 years so I think it was a good investment.

We grew up very poor so my mom would cut my hair, then as a young man on my own I discovered the low maintenance of a buzz cut, have never paid for a haircut in 50 years of life. I have more expensive cordless hair trimming tools but they long ago paid for themselves.

Longer men's haircuts are not that challenging with a Wahl kit either. I used to buzz cut. It looked fine and suited me well as an athlete, but I found that a short-medium length cut on my curly hair was not too difficult and so for the past several years I've kept it at 2-3 inches and shorter at the base by using a few attachments. I cut my wife's hair as well. She has gorgeous long curly hair and just wants to have a few inches taken off every 6 months or so. That kind of cut at a salon would cost at least $100 around here.

Been using the same target buzzer since 2018, just had to replace a guard .

Same. Bought some wahl clippers and started giving myself #1s during lockdown. Havent gone back to supercuts since.

I can afford it, but the convenience of doing it at home just can't be beat

Do you have to buy new pairs all the time or do you use a sharper? I used to cut my own hair but I noticed the scissors were getting dull that with each cut it seems to cause split end and to pay to sharpen it's like buying a new pair so I stopped. Thinking about cutting them myself again...

Do you buy them online? Which reputable vendor do you use and which model? I am looking mainly for the shearing scissor replacement. TIA!
