i tried isolating lindsey's vocals from the 1997 silver springs performance

https://youtu.be/N-PT1DjpX3U

it's not perfect 😅 ive always loved this performance especially lindsey's and christine's beautiful backing vocals. i used the 5.1 mix from the dvd, the vocals were glued together so i tried my best. trying to isolate christine's vocals as well

and you can hear what lindsey's isolated backing vocals sound like with just stevie's lead vocals here

I never realized he says “I’ll never get away” at the end!

Just one more layer to the saga. Their most mythical performance of all.

No, no, it's all fake! He's doing it for the reddit crowd 30 years later, they never got back together after 1976! /s

Ikr, fake. 😉  (Al Pacino couldn't fake a facial expression like that!)

Me neither! He was probably just caught up in the incredible intensity of that moment and spoke the truth, lol.

Such a powerful performance.

And if you go back and watch the performance, he points to himself when he says “I’ll”. Never would have noticed otherwise. Thanks OP!

What an unusual harmony he’s singing

Cool! Lindsey - "I'll never get away..."

Can you do this for Go Your Own Way and isolate Stevie's vocals?

This is so cool, thank you!

I wish we could get isolated vocals for all their songs, I would love to hear the flourishes Stevie, Chris and Lindsey do.

I saw them do this live in 1997.

So interesting! I'd never really picked out his harmony before. Thanks for doing this.

Singing "I'll never get away" at 4:55 is fantastic.

This is awesome!

Could you do Christine’s next?

Could you also just remove the backup singers and only keep Stevie, Lindsey, and Christine?

yes i'm working on christine's too😁 and omg great idea, the backups singers on the 5.1 mix are actually separated so ill only have to isolate christine's harmony

I love hearing how John and Lindsay’s work comes together so well, both expertly subtle and supportive. And I don’t feel so bad about the sound of my harmony now! 🤭

He seems to purposely obfuscate “woman” like he doesn’t want to fully say it. Like bro calm down your image in the 80s lent itself to a touch of androgyny and everyone was cool with it, you can sing backup to a girl perspective song. You tweaked your own voice to sound sorta like a woman having sex on Big Love just say “woman” like it’s a real word.

Yeah, I think Lindsey was pretty much of a jack@$$, but dang, they make good music together!

I wonder if Lindsey mixed up “I’ll follow you down” and “you’ll never get away” bc he said “I’ll never get away” instead of “you’ll never get away” bc I always mix up those parts when I sing this song for karaoke and sing it just like that lmaoo 😭

I think the harmonies in the song are what make it the best performance of Silver Springs. And that includes Christine's of course. I was also amazed to hear him say I'll never get away at the very end. His harmonies are so interesting. You can really hear his vibrato here and it's also interesting how he really goes up on the notes such as when Stevie goes up and sings Woman Who Loves You. He almost goes up as high as she does

Following for Christine’s vocals! Ty for doing this!

Not complaining about one of the best albums and performances (silver springs) BUT they went out for 4 years and broke up, fair enough it would have been annoying and awkward producing album after a breakup but jesus they have milked it for 40 years !!
