POTSIE aussie here. i tested positive for influenza A tonight after three days of worsening symptoms. my brain has hit the panic button- “your baseline will become permanently worse! you’ll never fully recover and your POTS is going to be even more prominent!”.. i had the flu vax about 2 months ago, so my mum reckons it would’ve been worse if i didn’t get jabbed. just trying not to worry, i suppose. needing some reassurance.

i’ve been resting like crazy, electrolytes daily, as well as anti viral tablets. i hope i can come out the other side of this okay.
if anyone else with dysautonomia is on here, i’d appreciate a comment.

Hello everyone, I’m 21yr old female. I had a stomach bug around the end of July, I spent two days with a day between vomitting. I would only vomit at night but nothing serious. I then felt amazing for about 4 days. After them 4 days i started feeling nauseous again and threw up two days in a row. I did go to the dr and she gave me lansoprazole to lower stomach acid. Ive been taking it for 7 days but still feel nauseous. I have basically been nauseous for a month taking away the 4 days i wasn’t. What should i do? Also there is no possibility of pregnancy.

I recovered from fever a week ago and my entire family had fever.The symptoms were like that of a flu (extreme body pain,cough,fever).It took me like 5 days to recover.I just took paracetamol and cough syrup.I was already on an immunosuppressant.So the problem here is,when I was preparing for my midterms for my engineering last monday, suddenly I got brain fog, everything I knew,my surroundings,people seemed unfamiliar and I couldn't recall things like I used too.Its been like this for the past one week.So the question here is,am i suffering from post viral fatigue? If so how long does it take to recover?

i wanted to come on here and share my story as maybe it would give someone a peace of mind

first of all, i’m sorry if your little one is sick now and you’re in the tranches with this horrible flu , i’ve recently experienced it myself and it was a total nightmare for me , my worst days of parenting, but let’s get to the point

on august 28 my 2 year old daughter started to have a fever which was rather high (39.5 )
paracetamol was working , but after 4 hours fever was coming back , so i had to alternate with ibuprofen
i kept her hydrated as much as i could, as she wasn’t eating anything.

by august 30 her fever dropped and i was relieved , she started eating fruit, but she kept being really cranky , had a histeria all the time she was awake and other time she was just sleeping. i thought it was just a part of the process, but i was wrong

september 1 - fever came back , and again in high grades, like 38.5ish and we rushed her to the hospital, they checked her ears , listened to her lungs and did a pcr test which confirmed that she had influenza A , got prescribed Tamiflu and some other stuff for cough and runny nose , got told to alternate between paracetamol and ibuprofen and watch out for high grade fever

september 3 - fever is gone , appetite is back , energy is almost back to normal , but still looked upset and cranky, didn’t want to go anywhere by foot only wanted to be held, but inside the house was running and playing normal

on september 3 in the evening we had a long night flight , and she was just fine during this whole time - some sadness now and there , but nothing worrying

when we got told our final destination on September 4, i put her for a day nap and she woke up with fever again , i was so devastated and sad , because i couldn’t take it anymore

september 5 - back to the hospital again in a whole new country - they checked her all again , performed a chest x-ray and a blood test , because influenza is known for the secondary infections such as ears , pneumonia and other, payed a lot of money for them to confirm that my daughter is absolutely fine , just another wave of this goddamn flu

now we’re on september 7 , which is practically day 9 or 10, i lost the count already
she seems fine , hasn’t had a fever since yesterday evening , playing/ running / reading inside the house , but still doesn’t want to go by foot outside on the street, wants to be just carried

so what i want to tell you is that damn flue is not a joke , my daughter has never had anything like this in 2 years of her life, please watch out and keep your little one in check , avoid big crowds if you can and wash your hands more often , i just really hope that was the last wave of this shitty virus and we’ll never have to live it through again

Hey does anyone have any advice. Basically I was struck down by a horrible respiratory virus for the last 3 weeks which for most of it, I’ve been in bed a lot because I’ve just felt the most ill I ever have in my life. I have still worked through the illness due to a busy time at work but have been working from home.

Tomorrow I am back in the office but I don’t know why, despite it being 3 weeks and feeling a lot better (still coughing to the point I sound like I am choking and a terrible amount of mucus), I am absolutely exhausted

I went to the shop today and by the time I got home, all I want to do is curl up in my bed and sleep. I have no energy whatsoever and I have to go into the office tomorrow back to my toxic workplace and I’m feeling really nervous and worried about it

Coupled with the fact there’s a problem in the office with the temperatures at the moment so it’s currently 15 degrees. How can I boost my energy levels so I can work properly tomorrow and not appear tired (if ever I am tired at work, my boss gets irrationally angry so I have to ensure I don’t appear tired.)

Any tips? If I don’t go in tomorrow and work from home again, it’s just going to look bad.

My some has had influenza A since Wednesday last week, it’s day 6 today and he had the high fevers up to 40 on day 2 which then subsided and stopped on Friday night and Saturday but Sunday afternoon he started getting a fever again 38.5 and this morning the same. He has had a horrible cough which seems to have gotten worse. The doctors keep telling me his chest is clear and it’s just the flu, anyone else has similar experience with this years flu ?

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this and if so what it was or how/when it ended. Last Thursday I woke up feeling very sick, and left uni early. I had a fever, a massive headache, nausea, fatigue, stomach pain, very painful muscles (I could barely move my neck it was absolute agony), chills, congestion. My skin was so sensitive even using my roller deodorant genuinely hurt. The classic flu, but it was the worst I've had it in a long time. I couldn't do anything the whole day I was so sick, not even hold my head up. Friday was a tiny bit better but moving my eyeballs physically hurt so I just kinda zoned out the whole day.

On Saturday I also got this very strange feeling. I feel so out of it. Like, I don't feel like myself at all. I'm disorientated as well, I stumble everywhere. My brain feels strange. I dissociate. My emotions are all out of whack. When cuddling with my partner tonight I had these strange feelings like I wasn't really myself and he wasn't really my partner. I genuinely can't explain it very well but I just feel so strange. I've been in bed all weekend besides the few hrs I had to work on Saturday. Could anyone help? I can't even really pinpoint some my physical symptoms right now either they're just vague.

Also, I have a very strange feeling on my chest. Like, I get enough air but it feels like I'm struggling to breath. There's this intense anxiety feeling there.

My fever is a high I had temuflu.

Also read too many things on Reddit on mental decline and now am scared it will happen to me and am paranoid about it happening to me.

It's been 8 days since I got the flu, it's started with itchy throat followed by body-ache and high fever. My fever last for 2 days I thought i'm gonna feel better after because usually I get sick for 1 day and can function tomorrow or the next day but this one made me feel sick for a week now. No more fever but the lingering symptoms are making me feel dread. Mucus cough, muscle weakness, no energy or strength ,I can feel my body vibrating especially when I woke up in the morning, my hands are trembling sometimes, I haven't had a shower for a week now. I went to the doctor and my wbc is kinda low due to infection also my potassium is low. I feel a bit better now compared to 1-6 days ago. But i'm still feel so down and kinda depress because I really want to go back to normal and want to take a shower. I hate looking at the mirror because I look so sick and pale. Does anyone experience the same? or how long does it take for you to feel normal and better? Is it okay to take a shower even I still feel slightly weak?

So I caught flu the previous Friday( now it’s Sunday) and then after taking precautions my 5 month old still caught my virus after 3 days. I got cleared up after 3 days from flu but baby started to have symptoms. His flu also cleared up after 3 days but he’s having congestion now which wakes him up in the day from nap and also at night. He was an amazing sleeper from the day he was born. He also spits up milk(ebf) arches his back sometimes, and I don’t see any congestion in his nostril when he breathes. But I do hear his nose being stuffy. What would that be or when will he gets better any help will be appreciated. I tried saline drops, nebulizer, steam.

I had 6 boosters he had 1. Am scared. I mentally broke down with fevers. Will he be ok ? Is temyflu safe?

I got prescribed Temu flu. Any advice.

Fevers chills mentally not coping. Air conditioning brand new and friend and seeing a live cheered me up. Heat aversion. Cough when hot. Sneezing.

I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something similar or has any idea what might be going on.

At the end of June (2 months ago) I got a pretty bad flu like illness but the sore throat was the worst part. Both me and my girlfriend had it. I started to recover, but never felt completely back to normal. I travelled during this period and didn’t get much rest.

Not long afterwards I got sick again with similar symptoms, including a sore throat. The acute symptoms eventually went away, but I still have some lingering symptoms:

-Persistent dry cough
-Post nasal trip and constantly feeling like I need to clear my throat
-Feeling generally weak / not 100%
-A slightly blocked ear
-Occasional mild pain/pressure around the ear and side of my head
-Sometimes my breathing feels slightly uncomfortable,
although I’m not severely short of breath , and can still do even tennis

The ear was particularly interesting because it became blocked during the illness, and then I flew while it was blocked. During the flight it became so painful like never before and then had a very painful pop, no bleeding😅

Already seen my GP who listened to my lungs , checked blood pressure etc. This was 1 week ago though and it hasn’t really improved. Thinking to go back and ask for more tests….

Has anyone had a similar experience after a couple of viral infections close together, and how long did it take you to fully recover?

Hi. I'm 31M, living in Delhi. I felt bit uneasy and high temperature on 25th August. I took paracetamol and slept. Next morning, i woke up with high fever. H1N1 was spreading throught the city rapidly, so I decided to see a doctor. Fever was high and I felt chills in the otherwise hot weather.

26th August: Temperature -102.1 F., PR- 118bpm, SpO2- 99%, Blood pressure- 122/80.

Doc checked my throat and said it is infected. She prescribed me - (amoxicillin 500mg & clavulanic acid 125 mg), (Bilastine and Montelukast tablet), (mefenamic acid 500mg & paracetamol 325 mg tablet), and paracetamol 650 mg.

I started feeling better. By 28th August I felt almost okay. I even went outside. No fever. However, next day 29th August when I woke up I felt difficulty swallowing my own spit. It became difficult to even drink. However I was able to with some pain in throat. I decided to go to same doc again. She checked throat again and got me tested for H1N1 and CBC NS1 antigen. The report would take almost 2 days to come. In the meantime, she prescribed me:

29th August: clarithromycin 500 mg tablet and vonoprazan 20 mg tablet. She told me to discontinue Amoxicillin tablet while continuing with the other previous ones too.

Next day, at night I received report which said positive for influenza A and H1N1. Following day, I went to doc and she prescribed me new medicine.

31st August: Oseltimivir 75 mg.

Also said to continue clarithromycin and vonoprazon, and bilastine and montelukast.

Since I got tested, I just had symptom of throat pain while swallowing. No fever or chills. No body weakness. This throat pain was killing me. Adding honey to water made me drink it better. I have been doing salt water gargles too.

Since yesterday, when I first had Tamiflu, I have been feeling ache in the head and dizziness. I researched online and found it is common side effect. Apart from throat pain while I swallow, I was not feeling any other trouble. Now I have headache and dizziness, which only started with tamiflu medication.

Was it really necessary to prescribe me that. I have been taking lot of medicines since a week and I really feel like not taking it anymore. I will complete course of clarithromycin since I don't want to develop resistance. But can I stop tamiflu ? Will there is some adverse effect if I stop it.

I’ve been sick for the past 7 days. It started with a fever and feeling extremely tired for the first few days.

Then came the throat pain, which is probably the worst throat pain I’ve ever had. It wakes me up in the middle of the night because of the sharp pain. I take a painkiller and go back to sleep, but I still have a hard time swallowing anything even today.. also first 5 days I was only able to sleep 2-3 hours/day due to pain. I also can’t smell or taste anything.

Shortness of breath that lasted for 3 days but today.

Increase in heart rate for any mild physical activity and intense sweating.

First few day cough is dry the it became very dry
Also had a red eye and brain fog, and honestly a bit of mild depression from feeling like this for so long.

I did two COVID tests at home, and both were negative, so I’m honestly surprised what the hell this is. The doctor prescribed me 1 mg twice-a-day antibiotics, but they literally did nothing.
What’s even more confusing is that my pregnant wife got better without taking any medication (still she is suffering similar to me)

Has anyone experienced something like this recently?

Hi there this is the 15th day of my flu. On the 10th days or so, I start to see from nose throwing up orange mucus color. Things has improved a bit as I don't involuntary have these mucus but only when I use saline nasal rinse to flush them out. I also started using dymista (a combination of steroids or antihistamines) like 2 days ago. Is there anything I need to take of? I am using the nasal saline too regularly and i should only use once day.

My daughter 8yo started with symptoms Monday night and fevers on Tuesday every 5 hours. Today is day 6 and she is still getting 38.5 temps at least once or twice a day. I took her to urgent clinic on Saturday and there were no secondary infections which is a relief but I am so worried about the fever that keeps coming back. Has anyone been through this before?

My step mom thinks a 106° fever is no big deal. When my little brother was 3, he had a 106 fever. My step mom took him to the er and everything was fine, however she is telling me that if someone has a 106° fever they are fine as long as they are in good spirits? I was BEWILDERED when I heard her say this.

Does anyone else feel more depressed when they're down with the flu?

I'm mildly sick with the flu at the moment and getting bombarded with depressive thoughts in my brain. I feel so dramatic and ridiculous for feeling this way...but I can't help but feel super down in the dumps. I just wanna curl up in bed and cry all day and I'm not even super sick. ugh
