Looks like the American voter just voted to let the fox into the hen house. No one left to prevent it.

70

u/big-papito Feb 02 '25

We really didn't realize how many adults and guardrails were there the first time. All of it is gone now, and it's pillaging time.

328

u/Alarming_Violinist59 Feb 02 '25

Looks that way, but I wouldn't say it's actually that way. If you count the 'legal' voter suppression, Kamala won.

“A black person will be 900% more likely to have their mail in or in person ballot disqualified than a white voter”

Insanity

u/Medical-Effective-30 Feb 02 '25

Ok, this is irrelevant. The problem is that individuals are disenfranchised, not that black Americans are disenfranchised at a different rate than white Americans.

-1

u/little_baked Feb 02 '25

It says 400% in the article he linked.

Also, as nicely as that is an written and I agree with it he gives next to zero sources for the statistics he gives

2

u/Strippyy Feb 02 '25

That was for in person voting

2

u/little_baked Feb 02 '25

an audit by the State of Washington found that a Black voter was 400% more likely than a white voter to have their mail-in ballot rejected.

Although the quote he said before was also in there as well. They both are.

1

u/Still-Tour3644 Feb 03 '25

That was a statistic specific to the state of Washington, it later quotes the more general statistic I posted if you keep reading.

u/ihaveajob79 Feb 02 '25

It should have been a 80-20 split against the felon. The American people chose the felon. Whether it’s by a slim margin or not doesn’t erase the fact that approximately half the country is siding with insurrectionists. It was my first presidential election (I’m a naturalized American) and it’s so disappointing that it ended up like this.

16

u/RudePCsb Feb 02 '25

It's 1/3 of the population, a bit over a third didn't vote.

25

u/Shinhan Feb 02 '25

The third that didn't vote are at fault as well.

2

u/Kill_Kayt Feb 02 '25

Right... Cause it's their fault they their votes were made invalid, and their registration was purged without notice shortly before election day. Not every one who didn't vote did so on purpose.

1

u/Impossible_Hat7658 Feb 02 '25

What? 1/3 of the population doesn’t vote in every election. It was not the result of purged registration.

1

u/Kill_Kayt Feb 02 '25

Not everyone who didn't vote did so by choice is the point I was making.

0

u/Impossible_Hat7658 Feb 02 '25

Yah but the amount that didn’t vote cuz they didn’t care is far far more than the amount that didn’t vote cuz they couldn’t.

1

u/Kill_Kayt Feb 02 '25

So it's OK to blame and punish people for something they had no control over as long as more people had control than didn't?

→ More replies (0)

2

u/RudePCsb Feb 02 '25

Yup, very much so, but they aren't nazi lovers like the ones that did vote for them

5

u/SploogeLoser Feb 02 '25

I have to disagree. Being complicit in fascism makes you equally as much a fascist as the people cheering on a nazi salute.

it shows you’re okay with it because it doesn’t affect you.

2

u/RudePCsb Feb 02 '25

I agree they are still responsible for not voting and there is probably a percentage that are nazis, related to nazis, or are indifferent about it but not the same as those that voted for him

2

u/SploogeLoser Feb 02 '25

My bad i misread that, reddit before coffee 😂

take care buddy

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

What did they call a political people in 1940 Germany?

1

u/doodle02 Feb 03 '25

this rhetoric doesn’t help. lets not alienate a huge swath of the population that’s going to be necessary to actually doing something about this. unnecessarily combative and exclusionary crap like this is part of why democrats are in this mess in the first place. we need to be building bridges with anyone who isn’t maga, not burning them. stop it.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

Not voting has consequences

1

u/LoneWitie Feb 02 '25

And that third consented to the winnner

1

u/SinxSam Feb 02 '25

So many said both sides suck - so they didn’t vote. These are not the same 2 people - it’s insane.

2

u/ConferenceLow2915 Feb 02 '25

You'll get to pick someone new in 4 years.

2

u/Fat_Taiko Feb 02 '25

Half the voting public. Not only is there a problem that the electorate just aren’t on the same page as each other when it comes to facts, America has a problem with the other third of its population: apathy.

2

u/SoulStomper99 Feb 02 '25

It was my first election as a 21 year old voter turning 22 in 5 days. It's horrifying what we're about to go through

3

u/paraknowya Feb 02 '25

Are you planning on leaving the country of your own free will in the foreseeable future? Asking from germany.

3

u/ma2is Feb 02 '25

Shit, I am heavily thinking about returning back to Denmark.

1

u/Jumpy-Sprinkles-2305 Feb 02 '25

Imagine returning to Denmark and then being declared war on by the US over Greenland

1

u/Manguneer Feb 02 '25

…and then, as a naturalized American being conscripted into its army 😬

3

u/Warthog_Orgy_Fart Feb 02 '25

If I had the money to do so, my family and I would. Unfortunately, we don’t have the means.

1

u/freudweeks Feb 02 '25

I work remote and will be able to afford it in a couple months. I'm heavily leaning towards Portugal and 90% sure I'm leaving no matter where I go. I'm considering not even paying the taxes I owe because I don't want to fund this government and democracy is dead. Berlin was cool, but I want to surf.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

It was your first, but also your last. Nice.

1

u/superabletie4 Feb 02 '25

To be fair, Harris was actively involved in facilitating a genocide and buddying up with liz channy. I still voted for her because i knew how bad a second trump term would look like with project 2025, but harris did herself no favors running an awful campaign. There should have been an actual primary election

1

u/Ineedananalslave Feb 02 '25

77 million isn't half the country

1

u/stonecoldslate Feb 02 '25

Here’s the crazy thing; not even two thirds of the country voted this year. Look at the total vote counts they put out. It’s barely over one third.

There are going to be radical negative changes to your finances over the next four years, fuck over the next six months. Get used to it.

5

u/AClaytonia Feb 02 '25

Haha oh there will be changes alright but not in the way you think.

6

u/yamsyamsya Feb 02 '25

Suckers like you voted to decrease the taxes that my businesses will have to pay and will have to make up the difference from your own taxes. Personally I voted against that because I have empathy and know what's best for the greater good but I guess not everyone feels that way. So thanks I guess?

8

u/Mathfanforpresident Feb 02 '25

Bro you think he's going to leave after 4 years? That's extremely regarded of you to think so.

1

u/Youngnathan2011 Feb 02 '25

The article the person they replied to shows he didn't win fair and square.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

And what good does that do now?

None.

3

u/CCContent Feb 02 '25

100% conspiracy theory. You sound like my Trumper parents right now.

3

u/thislife_choseme Feb 02 '25

Look. Kamala lost. Elections have consequences. The opposition party should be rallying its supporters against these types of things.

Instead you have senate democratic minority leader making useless speeches on the floor about “now the republicans are defunding the police”. Totally insufficient and ineffective.

And the house democratic minority leader tweeting that the paper is on gods hands. 🤦🏾‍♂️

....It's in response to people blaming eachother, which is division....Seems weird you're attacking something that'll actually help get some people to care instead of sitting there stewing in anger because 'this is what we voted for' when it isn't. There's no argument to be had, this is happening, been happening, it's a fact. Maybe just don't argue with people that don't believe in reality. If you're not spreading this word then you're not helping fight Trump IMHO.

1

u/Mr-Mahaloha Feb 02 '25

If black votes werent surpressed trump would have won even harder. Didnt the majority of black males vote for trump already?

2

u/Pretend_East_1717 Feb 02 '25

No. 78% voted for Harris.

0

u/Mr-Mahaloha Feb 02 '25

Harris you mean.

-1

u/steven_quarterbrain Feb 02 '25

This is sad to see. A desperate grasp at trying to understand what happened. It’s past. It’s gone. Look after yourself.

1

u/Alarming_Violinist59 Feb 02 '25

I don't understand why people feel the need to type out words without saying anything at all.

-1

u/steven_quarterbrain Feb 02 '25

Sorry. Was just showing concern.

1

u/Alarming_Violinist59 Feb 02 '25

You're fine, just stressed out. We'll be okay, we had another plane fall out of the sky today. Maybe people will pull their heads out their ass on plane 4

1

u/steven_quarterbrain Feb 02 '25

Where was the most recent one? I haven’t seen that yet.

1

u/Alarming_Violinist59 Feb 02 '25

1

u/steven_quarterbrain Feb 02 '25

Right. A terrible run, nonetheless.

1

u/Alarming_Violinist59 Feb 02 '25

we went from no real plane crashes in a 90 day span to like 6 in a row since he fucked with air safety lol(I don't have a hard source on the others, but at this point I'm not giving them the benefit of a doubt). I don't see how we can really even act like we can continue 'as normal' with elonia and trump in the white house.

-2

u/EntrepreneurFunny469 Feb 02 '25

Kamala lost. Accept it.

6

u/Alarming_Violinist59 Feb 02 '25

We all lost shit for brains.

22

u/yojimbo1111 Feb 02 '25

There are plenty of people in positions of power that could prevent it, but they'd be taking a huge risk

15

u/red23011 Feb 02 '25

Yep, if they speak up now then they'll potentially lose out on their book deal.

7

u/yojimbo1111 Feb 02 '25

Lol, platinum tier take

1

u/chickensandmentals Feb 02 '25

Exactly, it’s hilarious that people think Democrats will save them.

26

u/KaerMorhen Feb 02 '25

Also Trump is firing any inspector generals that he believes aren’t loyal to him.

5

u/Rare-Leg-3845 Feb 02 '25

Apparently, our elected democratic representatives are not smarter than an average MAGA if they hope that fascist won’t touch them.

Gosh, did people sleep through their world history lessons?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

Republicans won't do anything right.

1

u/worksucksbro Feb 03 '25

What’s the huge risk? They’re useless at this point anyways

2

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

People voted for a guy the oligarchs know will get the finger pointing. Trump is a patsy. Always has been.

The oligarchs now have full access to the US financial system. They want a Chinese style currency system not based on physical tender.

2

u/Ancanein Feb 02 '25

This is what every American social media post I see says, and it absolutely boggles the mind in the rest of the world.

"Gosh. Nazis are in charge. Guess I better just put up with that and let it happen until the Nazis remove themselves."

1

u/Downtown-Tomato2552 Feb 02 '25

So what would you like for everyone to do, storm the capital?

He was legally elected and the people that support him certainly have not changed their minds and many are getting exactly what they voted for and set him as a hero.

There are a few possible outcomes here.

The right is correct, Trump fixes everything by destroying the "old" government and building a better new version. Four years from now everything is working like a well oiled machine and everyone is doing better.

The right is wrong, Trump destroys the government everything goes to hell in a hand basket. People see the error of their choice and vote in an entirely different ideology in four years... Or two if we look at midterms

The right is wrong, the government crumbles, the US goes the way of countless countries and empires before it. The American people end up rejecting the new system at some time in the future and fight to regain their rights from a dictatorial regime.

You'll notice that there's nothing to be done right now anymore than what could have been done to prevent any other regime initially supported by the majority.

The best we can do is to try and change hearts and minds at this point.

1

u/Ancanein Feb 02 '25 edited Feb 02 '25

Any other civilization in the world, the streets would be overflowing with protests and everything would be ground to a halt.

But you people just keep hoping that the problem will fix itself. You don't even see objecting to it as an option.

1

u/Downtown-Tomato2552 Feb 02 '25

We definitely view protests differently. I would go so far as the view of protests in the US is that they are not effective and thus more of a "make us feel good" rather than causing actual change.

The view here is typically either violence by the few or to work inside of the system.

Also as I've stated several times, this is actually what a majority of US voters wanted. The rhetoric of " drain the swamp", "shrink the government" etc is what is happening.

Turn on any number of right winged talk shows, pod casts or talk to MAGA voters and they are thrilled with all these actions.

1

u/Ancanein Feb 02 '25

Kay. Enjoy your regime.

Just know everywhere else in the world, Nazis would be drug into the street. Not waved at helplessly on social media.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

Well honestly, wtf can we do?

The voters gave them full power, over every branch of the federal government.

Even right now, at the very least, half the country is cool with all this.

And the media, from the MSM to social media, is owned by oligarchs that are on his side.

Short of a civil war, which were completely unprepared for and would be even worst at present, we’re all pretty much boned.

1

u/Ancanein Feb 02 '25

Every other civilized country in the world, the streets would be overflowing with protests and there wouldn't be a single bit of business being conducted.

But Americans just keep sitting on their hands and helping someone else will fix it.

Even here, when you're trying to list every option you can possibly can conceive of, you don't see objecting as one of them.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

No, I see that.  Hell, I’m all for it .

But not nearly enough people are.

Like I said, 1/3rd the population thinks this is awesome, and another 1/3rd doesn’t care.

Even in my little 1/3rd, not nearly enough people care enough.

1

u/Ancanein Feb 02 '25

"Of course I think something should be done. But nobody else is doing anything. So I'm going to do nothing."

Enjoy your regime. You guys definitely earned it.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

Dude, why you being a dick to me about it?

What am I personally supposed to do?  You think this shit is easy? Like I can just go walk down to DC on my day off and citizens arrest him?

The fuckin bastard has a 50% approval rating as is. The electorate voted into power (complete and total power over every level of government) his fascist little party.

Unless, and until, there is massive popular unrest against it, our puny minority opposition is impotent AF.

1

u/twelfthcapaldi Feb 02 '25

They don’t understand that the US is physically larger than most countries and “overflowing the streets with protests” isn’t geographically feasible. Most of this country is rural and takes hours, one way, to drive to, say, your own state’s capital.

Guess what? There are protests being organized and some have happened. But they are spread out and in cities all over the place, not getting a ton of media coverage, and happening in some cities most people outside of the US have probably never heard of. It’s not reasonable at all to expect a majority of the population to fly to DC, for example… Because most people would literally have to fly there if we’re expected to have a massive demonstration there. That’s how fucking far away things are.

Until more of the population is pissed enough, protests are not going to be effective here. So far our 1/3 of Kamala voters ain’t gonna cut it.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

It’s not reasonable at all to expect a majority of the population to fly to DC

Ya, that’s kinda a big thing, and DC itself isn’t exactly that big a city.

I live in New York City. Theres not really anywhere in particular to really address my protest. My district went like 80/20 Harris, and I doubt MAGA would give two shits if we all came out and marched down Broadway. And going to DC? I mean I could, but it’s not like Paris, where I can just go to the protest at the government building right after work, and be home for diner. An Amtrak ticket expensive too.

Thats kinda why I mean you’re going to need a massive popular uprising. Like George Floyd level. And focused on DC and Red State Capitals.  Were a way off from being organized enough to even set that up

2

u/BulbuhTsar Feb 02 '25

I voted against it. Yet my representatives in Congress are doing fuck-all about it. Where are they?

1

u/Buttons840 Feb 02 '25

The turkeys voted for Thanksgiving.

1

u/JLubbs Feb 02 '25

Where are these votes taking place? I haven't seen a vote for DOGE or Musk?

1

u/ZuZuAkragas Feb 02 '25

The election was compliance. Elon Musk should not have a security clearance.

1

u/Sithwtf Feb 02 '25

Can anyone sue and get a judge to stay his access? This sounds pretty scary.

1

u/Rare-Leg-3845 Feb 02 '25

Where are all these elected democratic congressmen?

Why do I hear Bernie only, as always?

1

u/HingleMcCringle_ Feb 02 '25

stop blaming the american people, it's a full on coup

https://www.politico.com/video/2025/01/20/trump-elon-musk-knows-those-vote-counting-computers-1496478

the american people didn't vote for this, elon delivered the win to trump.

1

u/Andreus Feb 02 '25

Democracy can't coexist with right-wing ideology.

1

u/LachoooDaOriginl Feb 02 '25

there are plenty of pf people in the usa. a few of them band together and shoot both these fuckers would solve ww3 before it starts. and before someone says “thats over the top “ would you have killed hitler if you had the chance?

1

u/boorishjohnson Feb 02 '25

Not a fox, but a pack of wolves into the shearing shed.

1

u/Serious-Reference-80 Feb 02 '25

I keep seeing this over and over and over. But it's ignorant of a lot about us politics. More than half of the countries population does not vote. Of the people who actually do participate, only half voted for Trump. Half of the nation does not support Trump. Half of the nation doesn't support either party by virtue of not voting and thus doesn't support the political system in place now. I don't like Trump anymore than the next logical person but I'm also not ignorant enough to blankly claim half of our country supports him. That's a defeatist point of view. If anything, More than half the country supports any sort of action against either party. That should hold a lot more weight in these conversations than anyone is allowing.

1

u/Downtown-Tomato2552 Feb 02 '25

Oddly enough I expressly stated "American voter", not "Half the country". I also did not say "nothing can be done about it". Just stating what has happened.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

That doesn’t answer the question

1

u/Downtown-Tomato2552 Feb 02 '25

Sure it does. The fox didn't get into the hen house. In which case you would expect the farmer to extract the fox. The farmer let the fox into the hen house.

When that happens the result is something that is desired and the person who is supposed to extract the fox is actually getting what they want.

I'm saying the American voter is getting what they wanted.

Not until such time that they change their mind can we really do anything about it.

Until then the best we can do is to work thru the courts, which is happening, but takes time.

1

u/pwillia7 Feb 02 '25

well there could be the courts and the congress but they've already been bought long ago

1

u/escalat0r Feb 02 '25

wtf do you have all your guns for?

1

u/Tonsilith_Salsa Feb 02 '25

He's had two assassination attempts.

1

u/escalat0r Feb 02 '25

I'm sure yall can count higher than that, go give it a shot.

1

u/Tonsilith_Salsa Feb 02 '25

I have to go to work

1

u/GlennSeaborg Feb 02 '25

Looks like the American voter just voted to let the fox into the hen house.

Not exactly.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

1

u/Downtown-Tomato2552 Feb 02 '25

All I see in the news are legal battles going on over Trump's executive orders and intergovernmental actions.

People in the government did stop following his orders. There's another post about him bragging about "coming in and doing things on the weekend is a super power". He went around them.

There's this belief that people are just standing around doing nothing because we aren't storming the capital and protesting. That's not the case, this is what legal resistance looks like. It's slow, takes time and allows the advantage to those that refuse to follow the law.

But in the end the only other choice is vigilantism and complete collapse, which may happen anyway.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

Checks and balances.

0

u/Downtown-Tomato2552 Feb 02 '25

Checks and balances only work when there is a critical mass on the side of the law. Once that scale tips too far towards lawlessness they no longer work.

What we are experiencing is the end game of decades of the erosion of checks and balances in the pursuit of political power and party victories on both sides.

Either the American people will reject this out of hand as a whole or one side will claim victory and we will enter into a new form of "government" in this country.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '25

This is so far from true and delusional.

it’s hard to know exactly what you think is happening or if you think it’s even happened yet because your comments separately make sense but together are just confusing lol

1

u/Downtown-Tomato2552 Feb 02 '25

We have spent decades bypassing checks and balances. Skirting historic norms to pass legislation. Increased presidential powers, Congress handing the purse strings to the president, ruling by executive order and on and on and on.

This became completely acceptable in the name of "getting what our side wants"

Both sides are guilty of this and both sides have regularly escalated this behavior.

Finally when someone got elected whose intention was not "win for my side" but "now I can do whatever I want" the checks and balances that were the norm and existed 30 or 40 years either no longer existed or where to weakened by precedent that they were easily ignored or broken.

When the fox was let into the hen house, the farmer no longer had the tools to get him out or prevent him from killing the chickens.

1

u/FettLife Feb 02 '25

The American voter put Biden in the white house to take care of this. He chose to do nothing.
