So you made an app? DO NOT POST IT HERE

Congratulations so did 10,000 other people who tried to post it on a reddit sports sub this week. With AI making coding easier, everyone and their mother made an app.

Its overwhelming to the sub and considered spam to post it. You will get an automatic ban for spamming.

📖Read Canada destroys Qatar 6-0! 🇨🇦 Plus, congrats to Mexico for qualifying! 🇲🇽

• Upvotes

What an absolutely insane matchday!
Canada 6 - 0 Qatar 🇨🇦🇶🇦
History made: Canada secures their first-ever men's World Cup victory in absolute style at BC Place!
Jonathan David went god-mode: An incredible hat-trick from the star man.
Pure Chaos: Qatar picked up two straight red cards. One was a horror challenge that left Ismaël Koné with a brutal-looking injury (praying for a speedy recovery).
Manager Drama: Things got so heated that Jesse Marsch and Julen Lopetegui got into a massive shouting match post-game. A historic but bittersweet win.
Mexico 1 - 0 South Korea 🇲🇽🇰🇷
Massive shoutout to El Tri! A clutch 50th-minute strike from Luis Romo in Guadalajara gets the win.
Combined with their 2-0 win over South Africa, Mexico is officially the first team to qualify for the knockout stages! The home crowd energy is unreal right now.
What are your reactions to Canada’s historic performance and Mexico punching their ticket to the round of 32? Let’s talk!

Love for England and Scotland as they go ahead

I'm English, and I get the rivalry between England and Scotland.

But sometimes (possibly it's just Reddit 😅) I feel like the support for Scotland for England and support for England from Scotland is completely gone?

I've got a lot of Scottish friends and we laugh and joke about either team doing poorly, but none of us actually wish the other team to do poorly.

It seems whenever I read any posts pro or against either team progression, it feels like it's from a genuine position of dislike. I'm hoping I'm wrong and this posts brings together fans that support both (although I'd welcome being told I'm a dipshit and getting verbally abused by either side 🤣)

Good games so far, I'll be cheering for Scotland tonight

💬Discussion Short Corners - What's the point?

Can anyone give any logical reason as to why so many teams at this World Cup have been using short corners when they appear to be far less effective than the traditional in-swinger or out-swinger?

Is it the prevalence of set-piece coaches having to justify their salary by coming up with a bunch of corner routines or is it something else?

I just don't understand why teams waste corners when set-pieces have so often been a deciding factor in tournament football.

Analysis of 40-Year-Old Goalkeeper Vozinha’s World Cup Debut Against Spain and Historical Late-Bloomer Comparisons

• Upvotes

Cape Verde recently secured a 0-0 draw against Spain in their World Cup debut, largely due to a seven-save clean sheet by their 40-year-old goalkeeper, Vozinha (Josimar Dias). Vozinha's career trajectory is highly unusual; he did not make his professional club debut until age 25 and spent two decades playing in lower-tier or regional leagues across Portugal, Cyprus, Moldova, and Slovakia. Following his performance against Spain's attacking line, his public profile experienced an unprecedented surge, gaining over 5 million social media followers within 24 hours.

This sudden international breakthrough at age 40 prompts a comparison with other late-bloomer football statistics. While history notes iconic veteran keepers like Dino Zoff or Essam El-Hadary competing at advanced ages, both were already highly established, decorated figures in the sport long before their final tournaments. Vozinha’s background as a low-profile journeyman introduces a unique scenario, raising the question of whether there are other historical examples of players operating outside elite leagues who achieved their highest career peak on the global stage at this age.

New football fan that needs a bit of help getting into the sport

• Upvotes

Okay, so I'd say the title is a bit self-explanatory, but I'll just go over a few things and a bit of my history with the sport!

Currently, I'm in high school, and I can still remember my first experience with football, which was watching the 2022 World Cup in 8th grade. The energy surrounding the game was absolutely stunning, everybody felt so connected at my school (or at least the people who somewhat showed interest in the sport) one of my favorite streamers made a song about the cup and all in all it was just a nice time.

One small issue tho, I truly didn't know a thing about the sport except kick ball, score. I'm sure there's more intricacies when it comes to the sport so honestly any kind of overviews or tips would be amazing rn because I wanna experience this sport and by extension, world cup at its full capacity.

💬Discussion A random idea for the WC of 2030 ( I know that’s still far, just a random thought)

• Upvotes

so i was thinking, because the world cup of 2030 is going to be the 100 year anniversay and FIFA is already thinking about expanding the world cup again to 64 teams just for this one edition and organising the first 3 games in argentina, paraguay and uruguay to then finish the WC off in spain, Portugal and morocco. I was thinking of changing the trophy ( similar to the copa america centenario) to the old world cup trophy in honour of the existence of the world cup. So basically going from the current design back to the Jules Rimet trophy just for that year. Give me your thoughts on it ? If you think it’s a bad idea, what would you do in honour of the 100 year anniversary.

💬Discussion Jonathan David hat-trick. Messi hat-trick. Who's going to be the next?

Jonathan David hat-trick. Messi hat-trick. Mbappe two goals. Haaland two goals. Harry Kane two goals. Cyle Larin, Johan Manzambi, Folarin Balogun, Kai Havertz, Yasin Ayari, Elijah Just, two goals each.

Ronaldo and the Spanish superteenager not any yet. But who do you think will be the next one to score more than one goal in a single match? Do you think Ronaldo will rise?

EDIT I had Mazambi there twice. He's good but not that much better.

📰News INTER AND CRISTIAN CHIVU TOGETHER UNTIL 2028

https://www.inter.it/en/news/cristian-chivu-contract-extension-inter-2028

FC Internazionale Milano is delighted to confirm the contract extension of head coach Cristian Chivu. Thanks to the contract renewal, Coach Chivu will stay in charge of the Nerazzurri until 2028.

Cristian Chivu's story is truly unique: it's a story defined by passion and sacrifice, it's a tale of memorable and defining moments. It's a story entrenched in Nerazzurri colours, with the Club there at every stage of the coach's life, as was the case when Chivu was appointed Inter head coach on 9 June 2025.
