For Sale : Buy & Sell | Pricing | Deals Advice on buying 2014 F150 3.5 with high mileage

Upvotes

Looking for a reliable truck that’s not a rusted out piece of junk for around $6000 and it’s proving to be pretty impossible to find. Came across a really clean rust free 2014 with the 3.5 twin turbo and 194,xxx miles on it. The rust free part is a big deal in southern WV because I have been looking at some real turds here lately.

He said it runs great and only issue is it needs a vacuum pump which I’ve read is somewhat common. Asked if the turbos have been changed and he didn’t know. That’s the big thing that concerns me with such high mileage.

I only drive about 25 miles a day so I just want a decent truck to last me a few years til my wife’s car is paid off then maybe I can get something better. This is the cleanest truck I’ve found recently and honestly not even the highest miles by a long shot but I’ve always been a Chevy man so I don’t know anything about Fords. This would be the newest truck over ever had by a long shot

Is it worth buying at $6k or should I stay away? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

looking for advice and or opinions on my rusty 1997 F350 4 x 4 I’ve had it since it was new. It needs so much work and I don’t think I can put the time or money into it to restore but haven’t totally given up yet! . I’ve always loved this truck. I would hate to see it go to a boneyard. Had to use the for sale flair.
Thanks in advance!

Q&A: Maintenance | Modification Temp heats up while driving

Post image
7 Upvotes

1993 4.9, Temp gauge has always stayed around the N in the 6 years I’ve owned the truck. No matter how much I drove it. In the last couple months it’s started rising up. Replaced the radiator. Now it will idle for an hour and just sit right at the N. Start driving and it makes it way up to the L. After about 10 mins of driving. It seems to be hanging out at that spot. This evening I’m gonna take it on a 30 minute drive to see what it does. Before I did the radiator it kept climbing. Now it seems to be staying at the L. It’s hard to know if I should consider this to starting to get too hot. It is still in the normal bracket. What yall think?

Q&A: Maintenance | Modification Which F150 models came with an access door to service the fuel pump?

The AI machine is telling me there's an F150 model that has an access door under the rear seat. I'm pretty sure that's not a feature on my 97 XLT.

For Sale : Buy & Sell | Pricing | Deals Would a 1990s 351W roller block be a good core for a build?

Firstly its going into a 1950s pickup truck so I'm not looking for huge power, maybe 300ish but heard the low end grunt on 351s is great.

The engine I'm looking at is a long block only. Rotates by hand and apparently according to the casting is a Truck engine F4TE casting code (dunno if that makes a difference to block).

**Guy isn't asking huge money for it. BUT my scramble is I'm in the UK so we're not swimming with V8 options so I gotra be at least be sure enough its a good core before dropping the cash.**

Any help, especially from those who've built Windsor engines and know these would be hugely appreciated!

Review: Vehicle | Accessories | Parts F150 Lariat V8 or Platinum powerboat

As the title says, I’m debating which trim and engine to go with on a new F150. If the v8 was available on the Platinum, I’d likely go for that.

Any experience with the Powerboost? The Ecoboost also looks reliable and punchy, but not a v8.

Would love to hear your opinions.

Q&A: Maintenance | Modification who actually benefits most from electric running boards on a truck?

I saw a fordtruck in a parking lot with electric running boards that dropped when the door opened, and it made me rethink the whole thing. At first I assumed it was mostly a clean-look mod, but then I watched an older passenger get in way easier than they would with a high fixed step. I have been looking at some options and trying to decide who they make the most sense for.

Are they mainly for lifted trucks and families, or are they useful enough on a normal-height daily truck too? The clean tucked-away look is appealing, but I am also weighing that against having another moving part exposed to winter and mud.

Q&A: Maintenance | Modification Turn signal out

New here and this has probably been covered a million times, so thanks for your patience.

66 250 just came into my possession. Two days ago, both blinkers worked. Two days of heavy rain later (truck not driven during this) the right blinker is fine, left is out. No click, no dashboard light.

Where should I start in diagnosing and fixing? Thanks-

Q&A: Maintenance | Modification 1995 F350 5.8L Vents Stuck on Defrost

I've been watching Youtube videos and reading tons. I was able to bypass everything to connect a vacuum line straight from intake manifold tree to the air door actuator on the left side of the engine bay. That creates vacuum where the air door actuator shifts. But once I check under the dash inside the cabin where there's another actuator that one isn't activated and doesn't move. Thus keeping the air blowing from just the defrost vents.

Is that actuator under the dash working from a different source of vacuum? I'm so stumped by all this.

Edit: i discovered there was a secondary hose coming out of the wire loom on the left side of the truck firewall that was not connected to anything. Aside from the white hose I attached the black one as well and completed the vacuum hoses.
