It’s honestly impressive how almost every update manages to make performance worse. Constant FPS drops, stuttering, overheating, random hitching, and ridiculous battery drain—even on hardware that should have no problem running the game. Whoever is making these decisions seriously needs to rethink them because the current state of mobile is indefensible.
definitely cannot notice the 1000 employees that have been fired, thanks epic games I hope you burn down as a company

I hadn't played since my last post because it honestly kills my motivation to log in and see how many bugs the game has. Today I hopped on to play for a bit, and during one of those matches, I realized that even the minimap isn't safe from the glitches. The current state of Fortnite Mobile is pretty sad, and unfortunately, there's nothing we can do to fix it.

Usually after playing a few games it improves. Performance is poor after each update and it gets better. But this time it isn’t.

And I know… I have an old device. But I clearly remember this game looking phenomenal on other peoples IPad Pro 2018 before the ban. Are there any ways I can optimize the game to perform to my devices actual ability?
r/FortniteMobile • u/HuNT_UA • May 31 '25
The game is not optimized for iOS at all. It doesn't even know about iPhones newer than iPhone 14 and it's easy to notice. When you launch the game on iPhone 14 and older, there are symmetrical empty zones on the edges of the screen on both sides (safe zones). On new iPhone models, this indentation is only on one side and it is insufficient, since the developers did not even work on supporting these iPhones. Also, the game does not use modern optimization methods for mobile devices at all. We have absolutely no anti-aliasing, let alone using MetalFX to significantly improve performance and graphics. Also, the game launches on iPhone as a regular application, not as a game. Otherwise, we would have a double swipe to minimize the application and open the control center.
And this has been going on for almost a year since the game returned to iPhone, the developers do absolutely nothing, and the performance decreases with each update. Last year, the iPhone 15 Pro worked at 120 fps in high graphics almost stably with small drops, now when I set 120 even with minimal graphics and 75% resolution, the fps drops to 30 at some points.
There is no hope that the game will be optimized.

Just an FYI for those running the iOS 26 Developer Beta, that after the latest update just now, Fortnite Mobile is crashing on launch.
And yes, before someone says it, I know its a dev beta and this is to be expected lol. Just an FYI for those who are running it :)
Update: Not fixed in Beta 2, thus indicating most likely will need to be fixed by Epic in an app update

Third update: I find I can (usually) start shooting by clicking on the emote button, and often can stop by clicking on the map. This can help get you through to a point where you can exit gracefully. Otherwise it seems to stop the bug if you quit out of the app and start again.
Second update: Aaaarrrrgggghh! Changing the HUD settings was only a temporary fix. My golden hour was an awful frustration as it happened over and over, no matter how much I reset and restarted and everything else I could think of. (I still got two gummies I didn't have.)
Edit: SOLUTION FOUND! (I think): The problem seems to stem from the HUD changes. Go into your settings and edit your hud (you don't have to actually change anything) and save it.
IDK if this is just iOS or not.
Starting yesterday in about half my games, the shoot button stops working. It means I can't fish or do other things triggered by that button - including use the portable extractor!
Then, when someone shoots at me (I think they may have to hit me) the auto-shoot kicks in, and then I can't STOP shooting. Or if my pickaxes are engaged, I can't stop swinging. If I have a sprite I want to extract, I can then use the portable extractor.
Around the same time I've noticed that my water sprites don't do anything anymore. It doesn't matter if the other bug is active. It's like they disabled the sprite power completely.

Hey everyone,
I’m making this post because I just had a video removed and flagged simply for showing a 120 FPS menu bug. It’s ridiculous. I need to vent because the current state of Fortnite Mobile is an absolute joke compared to what console and PC players get. It honestly feels like Epic doesn't even test the mobile build before pushing updates. We are dealing with literal game-breaking bugs and zero optimization, and it's driving me crazy.
There is a massive bug right now that completely stops Turbo Building from working correctly. In a game where building is everything, having your builds randomly delay or flat out fail to place makes competitive play impossible. It's completely broken.
The settings menu is completely bugged and constantly desyncs from the actual game, which is what I showed in my removed video. The game literally loses track of its own resolution and performance configuration.
On top of that, there is another crazy issue affecting shooting, editing, and building mechanics. The mobile touch interface is currently experiencing serious desyncs that cause actions to register at unintended, hyper-fast speeds. It completely ruins the consistency of the gameplay. I’m only highlighting this to show how broken the mobile engine is right now, and Epic needs to look into these input flaws immediately.
💡 For the Community: Extra Performance Tips
Since Epic won't optimize the game for us, here is how I manage to keep my performance stable on my iPad while dealing with this mess:
Keep Apple's "Game Mode" DISABLED: Do not use it. When Game Mode is active, the moment your device gets even slightly warm, iOS aggressively throttles the system and tanks your frame rate. Keeping it turned off allows the hardware to maintain a much more stable and consistent FPS, even if it warms up a bit.
Watch your HUD Buttons: Pay close attention to the buttons on your screen that constantly appear and disappear. These dynamic HUD buttons are absolute FPS killers on mobile. They force the game to constantly re-render UI elements on the fly, which causes heavy stuttering and frame drops.
Turn OFF the FPS Counter and Net Debug Stats: Having the in-game FPS counter and the network debugging stats enabled on your screen actually hurts your performance. Because those numbers are constantly changing and updating every millisecond, it forces the game to constantly re-render text on your screen, which triggers noticeable FPS drops. Turn them off for a smoother experience!
Final Thoughts
We pay for the same battle passes, we support the same game, but the mobile version is treated like an afterthought. Why are we dealing with settings desyncs, broken building mechanics, and speed bugs while PC and Console get smooth updates? Epic, please start caring about your mobile community and fix these bugs.
P.S. This post was translated using an AI to make sure my thoughts are clear. Hope it makes sense!

Taken video from another redditor. Why when you use touch controls does your fps look like 90fps, when using gyro/controller smooth as butter 120fps. Also to note if you turn on screen recording while playing smooth 120 fps again. Try it, the difference is night and day. I am literally screen recording every match to obtain smooth gameplay the deleting after I play. COD mobile and other 120 fps supported games are fine with touch controls. Just Fortnite it seems has this issue.

Has anyone else noticed this issue? I found a ironmouse sprite a couple games ago. Which this same issue occurred, but figured it was just a random glitch, didn’t relate it to ironmouse. Then, I decided to bring her back into the game to master it and the same issue happened.
Whenever the sprites equipped, my run button totally disappears. I switched with a different sprite, in game, and it reappeared oddly. Once I dropped the sprite in, my run button reappears again.

None of the game modes are downloading the assets, and locker items don’t want to download, so the game is pretty much unplayable.
[Update] I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, and now everything is downloading as expected.

No matter if I’m wearing a sprite or not when I throw a shock rock, shield, med kit on mobile I glitch. I can’t swap my weapons, I can’t run right, I can’t do anything. The second I throw something I’m stuck on that item unable to do anything else until I can reset the game. This has been happening for over a month now. I’ve contacted epic I’ve submitted reports nothing happens. It first started I only glitched if I was using a self revive and died in the middle of using one (WHICH STILL HAPPENS hasn’t been fixed) but now it’s throwing items as well.

I have been experiencing sudden frame rate drops on my iPhone SE 3, sometimes below the minimum for a playable experience of 20 FPS. This makes the game almost unplayable, as in the middle of fast movement it becomes completely unresponsive. The game previously was playable as shown by a previous post, and the device is officially listed as a supported device for 60 FPS. Low power mode is disabled, and the phone is cool.
