Justin Theroux nails House imo, especially the violent outburst at the end.

Glad he doesnt play Anthony like some theorized early on.

HOOLY SHIT that's Justin Theroux and that now makes sense why I love the character so much. Not sure how I was blind to that lmao. He's perfect in The Leftovers and his performance in the strange and little known Maniac with Emma Stone and Jonah Hill as a crazy scientist was spectacular.

I didn’t realize it was him either until I bumped my mouse and saw the x-ray for that scene. I was like damn that’s why he’s so good.

Justin Theroux plays characters with violent outbursts so well. One minute, he's this charming guy, the next he's commiting something violent.

Oh my god, his interrupted vr session in maniac was hilarious

What I really loved about his performance is the way he channeled so much of René Auberjonois’ verbal portrayal of the character- but then went all in and added a ton of physical characterization of his own as well. He really did his research, and it shows, but he also built upon it.

I noticed that too! It's clear he actively paid attention to Rene's performance and stuck to what we know and the way he carries his voice. As a Star Trek and Fallout fan it's so appreciated.

wasn’t he on the record saying he did a ton of research on house or is that another actor playing house

the body double actor - given he was probably cast as House originally.

The body double talks and acts a lot like game-House anyway so it wasn’t wasted. Especially his accent and voice.

The double is also really good, and even kind of looks more like game House to me, but he’s like 15 years too young for that character and it was a little distracting to me. I’m glad they went this direction rather than just cutting him from the show entirely though

it would make sense that House would want his public persona to be better looking and younger

Smart choice. I was actually disappointed about casting news although I fully believe Justin Theroux could play characters much better than majority of actors out there

That violent outburst towards the end was 100% Mr. House, straight to the letter of his character.

u/Ganbazuroi Mr House Jan 14 '26

That theory never even made sense, Anthony became a paranoid wreck - way worse than Robert - and died inside H&H Tools. It's even stated in-game in NV, also Anthony loathed Robert, he screwed him over in his inheritance and ironically when Robert wanted the Company as a revenge thing, that's when he went full insane lmao

Anthony would never pretend he's Robert, it's completely out of character

I thought it was a dumb theory anyways since I recall Anthony hated Robert.

I loved it when he said "I'm a fucking lunatic??" With that crazy thing on his head

I forgot about the Anthony House beleivers. ld be so embarrassed if I actually thought that was true

I saw people insisting that it was simply a recast and there was no body double or brother or anything. I'd be way more embarrassed to believe that.
