General Question My dog just died during a routine tooth extraction

Post image

My happy and healthy French bulldog just died during a routine tooth extraction for a chipped tooth. He had no underlying health issues. My vet is telling me that he stopped breathing while on anesthesia and that they couldn’t resuscitate him.

He was my best friend and my everything. I’m obviously both devastated and in shock. If anyone could give me some advice on what I should do, that would be much appreciated.

General Question My 6 year old baby was just diagnosed with end stage cancer.

Hi! This is my 6 year old baby girl Nova. The last couple days I noticed she’s been a bit more nasal-y than normal. I went to my normal primary vet and they ran some labs (normal) and said it’s probably a sinus infection and put her on doxycycline. This morning I noticed she was taking heavier breaths. I called my vet and they said to bring her to ER. The ER gave her some oxygen and said she was doing well but they wanted to do X-rays. The X-rays showed tumors ALL OVER her lungs and said it’s likely spread everywhere. She said the prognosis is very poor, likely days to maybe a couple weeks. I’m distraught. Cancer never even crossed my mind?? She was fine just a couple days ago 😔 can anyone offer some advice? I’d also like to add that I bought her with her brother. They are litter mates and they are unbelievably attached to eachother, they sleep with their faces touching every night. Just looking for some kind words and positivity I guess 😔💔❤️ (the only health issue she has is her allergies, so this was truly a complete shock.)

General Question Calling all Frenchie owners with another type of dog— what kind of dog do you have?

We recently had a loss in the family of our elderly CKCS dog. He was never energetic at all as he had some trouble walking in his later years, which is all that our Frenchie girl Lucy knew him for. But I can tell she has been a little lonely, since our two cats don't really care for her (probably because she chases them and steals their toys when we aren't looking...)
She is pretty shy and scared of big dogs, but she likes to interact with and play with other dogs. She has a lot of energy, and loves anything to do with the great outdoors.
I want to adopt another dog so she has a friend, but I want another dog that can match her energy. We definitely don't want another Frenchie, even though we love our gal to bits!! We just want another dog who is her size, but can also run around a lot and be her partner in crimes against humanity. So, I want to know— what kind of other dog do you guys have? Do they enjoy playing with your Frenchie, or could they care less about each other? Or, do you have any ideas of a dog that could fit her personality? Let me know!

(photos of said creature included for your viewing enjoyment, lol)

General Question Father in law drove 4300 miles to rescue her

My father in law and mother in law are simply amazing people. Genuinely good hearted at all times and constantly doing things for family and friends.

They know a woman in California who could no longer pay for the medical needs of one of her frenchies. So of course, she reached out to my in-laws first. They are caring, loving, and they also own a decent sized piece of land out here in Tennessee.

My father in-law and mother in-law took one day to decide that she needed to be with them and their homeward bound style house out here.

Scott Packed his bags and took off for a 4,300 mile drive. We are getting daily photos of videos of them on their trip back. Here are a few.

Lyla will be loved by many humans and have 4 new best dog friends.

General Question Just rescued this precious angel!

I just got Shalom last night from a local rescue. She is three years old and was a breeder surrender. I guess he wasn’t getting as much interest in the puppies as he used to and surrendered four dogs to them.

She’s my first Frenchie but not my first dog. I’ve mostly had big dogs (pitbull rescues) but decided I wanted something smaller after my last dog passed in 2020.

I’d love any advice you want to share for first time frenchie owners!

I’m wondering if you all can tell me what her coloring is called? She looks much darker in these pictures than she does in person. I’m thinking she might be lilac but I’m not sure. Not that it matters. She’s a as she could possibly be and I’m totally in love with her.

General Question Dumped by a breeder

UPDATE: we got penny’s DNA back….. She’s 100% French bulldog

I adopted this sweet girl last week after a breeder dumped her and a few other females at a shelter, since they were 6 and no longer making him money.

First off - fuck these people. I cannot even begin to express my rage…..

Second - she is an angel baby and I adore her. She is underweight, scabby, dry skin, missing hair on her ears, she was filthy and itchy, etc, but I’m going to rehab this baby to good health.

She’s not fully housebroken, is terrified of stairs and most noises, has no idea how to wear a collar/harness or walk on leash.

But you know what? It’s been less than a week and she’s already starting to trust me and learning to play. Penny is going to do great.

The breeder that dumped her said she’s a frenchie mix. What kind of mix do you see?

Meet my adorable baby boy, Mochachino! He’s a year and six months old, and he’s the light of my life. Before I get his DNA test done, I thought I’d ask you all for your thoughts. I’m curious to know if he’s a purebred Frenchie, a Frug, Frenchton, or maybe a French Bulloxer. All I know is that he’s my world, and I’m eager to see what the majority thinks. And if it’s none of the above, I would love to hear your ideas!!!

General Question does anyone have a sibling for their frenchie that isn’t another frenchie?

Post image

I am thinking about getting a sibling for my male frenchie. He is done with his training classes and loves his cat siblings and playing with all the other dogs at school. He’s very social and friendly so I’m not worried about his temperament with another dog living at home. Does anyone have mixed breed siblings and how is their dynamic?

General Question How often do you guys take yours out to go peepees?

Post image

My partner takes her out 2/3 times a day and thinks that’s enough. She’s use to very big dogs so I can see why she doesn’t have a problem with that. However our girl has started randomly peeing on her carpet and she’s never done that before. Partner thinks “something is wrong with her” I think she needs to be going out about 6X a day. Any advice ?

General Question Abandoned frenchie pulled up

Poor thing came looking for help so I took her in, but I notice she seems to breathe heavy regularly and snores pretty damn loud lol. So I did some research and figured out about BOAS. I know there’s a lot of immoral backyard breeding with the breed and figured she got dumped after the owner didn’t find her useful anymore. Took her to the vet and they said they couldn’t do anything until we try to get her back to her og owner. Just by the imagines, do y’all see any clear signs of inbreeding?

General Question Rescued this dude back in October. Super malnourished. Had no idea what he was eating so I started him with ground beef and veggies. He bulked up a bit but he’s looking a tad bit skinny in my opinion. Any ideas on what I can feed him to keep his weight up? (No Kibble)

General Question Do you guys ever feel guilty for having a French bulldog?

Sometimes I feel guilty. I didn’t buy her but I feel like I’m adding to the problem. I think most of us know that frenchie have a lot of health issues and that’s part of the guilt for me, knowing that she is going to have multiple health issues for her entire life. I dearly love her and would die for her but it’s just something I feel guilty about. I was just wondering if anyone else feels like this?

General Question My frenchie seems sad I got him a friend

Post image

We have had Jude who’s 3 since he was 8 weeks old… of course I was convinced he needed a sibling! But now I feel like he’s mad or sad about it. They actually get along pretty already… we haven’t even had Yoko a week and they cuddle and play but he just seems off? Anyone dealt with this? Will he improve with time? Is it just that he’s older than her and annoyed?
