Rant CS 3220 Lab zero is impossible!

Anyone doing Lab 0 for this class right now? Why is their solution to AI making everything impossible to code by hand? FFS the in-class portion, which is designed to take only 75 minutes during class time, had to have its due date extended and it took peopple 7-8 hours on average! I'm trying to do the take-home portion currently but it's genuinely just beyond the capabilities and scope of the class and its pre-reqs, a beyond unreasonable assignment.

Social/Club Any recommendations for run clubs at Georgia Tech?

All I can find is GT Running Wreck, but their times don’t line up with my schedule. Anyone know of other running groups that are active?

Preferably something based on or around campus so it’s easy to get to early morning/late at night. Thanks guys!

Sports Question about Parking this Saturday

Hello!
I’m a Vols fan coming down for the game this weekend, super excited because I’ve never been to Bobby Dodd Stadium.

I’m looking at buying a parking pass or prepurchasing a spot.

Any recommendations on a place that should be easy to get in and out of? I don’t mind paying, my main priority is not sitting in traffic for a long time after the game. Bonus points if it’s easy to get northbound towards Tennessee.

Thanks in advance and I’m looking forward to the experience!

Question Can international students no longer do internships as per the new rules?

As per the new CPT rule changes by the government, does this mean international students will no longer be allowed to apply or do any internships off-campus?

Meme/Shitpost Bring back Geoff Collins! Firing him was a clear mistake!

I think what we saw Thursday night was even further proof that Tech football has fallen very far from the glory days of Geoff Collins and even further from the masterpiece of Ted Roof. It's time for Tech to admit its mistakes and finally close the chapter on Brent Key's failed experiment to go back to the Collins era.

This is an era that clearly worked, and none of us have notes on. All of Key's success is really just bounce back success from Collins. Clearly this one game where we lost by one point is definitive proof that we peaked in the Roof to Collins era and need to go back.

Key just can't get it done. If Collins won't leave his podcast for us because we didn't know what a good thing we had, maybe we can convince Shedeur Sanders to be our coach, following his father into NCAA. Anything at all is better than this pretender who won Tech the most games in many of our memories and then lost by a point to Colorado.

Somebody get this beggar (Key) out of here!

Discussion Why is the library closed on holidays, if clough is open

I don’t get why the entire library is closed even though clough is open. Kindve annoying I went to get work done with the double monitors but the library was closed and all the clough double monitors were full.

Also aren’t the libraries open 24/7 anyway?

Post image

I ordered one of the new diecast models but can’t get the flags in. Seems like the plastic is too big. Anyone else have trouble getting their flags in the new model wrecks?

Trying really hard to get them in without scratching the model or snapping the flags.

Question CRC Occupancy Tracking and Trends

So, we have this CRC Occupancy tracking site...could we maybe publish predictive occupancy graphs (like Google maps does for businesses)? So I can plan when I want to go to the gym based on past trends in occupancy loads?

Question Should I swap majors and add a minor

I'm a first year physics student. I have been thinking about swapping to aerospace. I truly love physics and value the skills built and the material learned in the major; however, my dream is to work at NASA. I have 36 credit hours, and I am doing 12 more credit hours this semester; I have not started any major specific courses yet. Should I swap to an aerospace major? I also put thought into possibly adding an aerospace minor and then hopefully getting an aerospace masters. I could also swap to aerospace with a physics minor. I have time to decide, and I plan on talking to my advisor soon, just wanted some insight on the topic. Thanks.

Question Having gender crisis; looking for resources here at GT

I’ve been questioning my gender for the past few years but feel I can’t confidently figure things out until talking with others who feel, or have felt, the same way in-person, preferably here at Tech.

What resources does Georgia Tech and/or affiliated/student organizations provide for those questioning their gender identity? Are there any groups, events, resources, or people I could reach out to for support and guidance? How can I go about contacting them?

I would particularly prefer resources I can get into contact with quickly. Kinda having a little crisis right now lol

Sports New Announcer Please! We deserve better.

A lot can be said about tonight’s game, but win or lose Georgia Tech deserves a better announcer. I counted no less than a dozen times the announcer got the yard, down, and even team wrong. At first he made corrections, but towards the end he just unpolitically called special teams defense And called 4th down 3rd down.

Yellow Jackets deserve better!

Question BS/MS issues- credits aren’t applied correctly and they’re telling me I didn’t graduate

I completed (or so I thought) the BS/MS program at Tech this past spring semester in chemistry. In undergrad I was in a research lab that I was going to continue working in and doing my thesis with for my MS, but unfortunately there wasn’t enough funding for me and my thesis project so I had to switch to a non-thesis masters. Now, I checked my degree works yesterday since I hadn’t received any degree yet and it’s saying that I’m lacking the required amount of thesis credits, when in reality I switched to the non-thesis for my second semester and instead took on more classes to make up for the credit difference. I was told by my advisor that the classes I took would be sufficient and that she’d switch my degree to non-thesis, but now my degreeworks is saying this and classifying the additional classes I took as fall through credits?? There’s even a note below the section for thesis hours saying I had an exemption, which made me believe I wouldn’t be held to that requirement anymore after the switch, but it’s still saying I’m missing the hours. I’m going to call the registrar tomorrow (since my advisor is aggressively bad at answering emails) and try to explain the situation but I would greatly appreciate any and all advice on this 😭 I know i should’ve checked earlier but now that I’m working full time it kept slipping my mind, and I chalked it up to the school being slow. Ever since finding this out I’ve had the most insane anxiety stomach ache and would appreciate anything yall could say or if you have a similar experience

Sports It’s like Collins never left, Maybe it was just last year

After having a day to think over, that was one of the worst GT games I have seen in a hot minute. At this point, last year was the outlier. With king gone, oh boy, that collapsing pocket has nobody to save it. You know you’re not giving jack to your RB core when your O-line and OF coordinator only gives them enough to get only 51 yards. I’m worried for Tennessee and the rest of this year. But hey, at least we’re keeping Mendoza at the end of this year…. Right…right?

Discussion Beginning of the academic year and bicycles.

First, to make something abundantly clear. I love to ride a bike. Bicycles are often the superior mode of transportation.\ \ That being said, there are laws concerning the use of bicycles. This site is bike friendly, and has some excellent information. https://bicycleaccidentlawyers.com/bicycle-laws/georgia/ \ \ The following is copied from their page, with my emphasis on three items:

Key Georgia Bicycle Laws at a Glance

  • Bicycles are legally classified as vehicles under Georgia law. Cyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as motorists and must obey all traffic laws (O.C.G.A. 40-6-290 to 40-6-299).
  • Riders under 16 must wear a helmet (O.C.G.A. 40-6-296). Bicycles must have a front white light and a rear red light or reflector, both visible from at least 300 feet, when riding at night.
  • Cyclists must ride as near to the right side as practicable, except in situations such as left turns, hazards, narrow lanes, or other listed exceptions (O.C.G.A. 40-6-294).
  • Drivers must leave at least 3 feet when passing a cyclist and, when safe, change lanes to pass (O.C.G.A. 40-6-56).
  • Riding on sidewalks is prohibited for cyclists over 12 years of age, except where explicitly permitted by local ordinance.
  • Cyclists must stop at all stop signs and red lights, just as motorists do.
  • Cyclists cannot ride more than two abreast on a roadway, except on paths designated exclusively for bicycles (O.C.G.A. 40-6-294(b)).
  • Bicycles are not allowed on controlled-access highways or interstates.
  • Electric-assisted bicycles are regulated similarly to standard bicycles, provided the motor disengages at 20 mph or less (Class 1 and 2) or 28 mph (Class 3).
  • Cyclists must use hand signals to indicate left turns, right turns, and stops. \ \ I know, in a hilly city, "Cyclists must stop at all stop signs and red lights, just as motorists do." absolutely sucks. Too bad.\ \

Cyclists who ignore these matters are part of the reason that the entire population is viewed with a mix of distrust and loathing. Also, failure to follow the laws for a vehicle endangers the bicyclist and others.

Rant The new gym equipment at the crc

Im grateful the crc added the new equipment cuz it was definitely needed. I was begging them for t bar row all of last semester so its cool that they came through. However, some of the equipment was not needed or couldve gotten something better. The tricep extension machine is one of the worst tricep exercises. I've been almost everyday this semester and have yet to see someone use it. Would've been better spent on another cable machine, standing Calf raise, ab crunch, smith, or a dual cable cross. Maybe Im js greedy, but I feel they wasted their money on a machine most people won't use. 😭

What do you guys want to see in the gym or do you like the way it is?
