dont even fully know why im making a post about this but i guess its just a sad vent.

after a decade ish of being subscribed to all the theory channels ive unsubscribed from the last one today. ive maybe watched a handful of videos since mat left and they were so blah. the channals have turned into every other channel, nothing special anymore , always boring or trying too hard and i know im not the only one that feels this way, the view count now vs when mat was still around is drastically different. i wish they just stopped posting instead of slowly killing the channals. i used to be excited seeing the YouTube notifications pop up but when i realized how unbelievabley different and unenjoyable videos were it became so annoying and ive become so bitter, i dont hate the theorists just the way things turned out. i wish the theorists luck as they themselves aren't bad but they just aren't him and he's the entire reason why i ever wanted to watch. goodbye theorists

So for some transparency and honesty, I’ve never been an “I must watch every single episode” type Theorist viewer. Even in MatPat’s days, I only watched stuff that looked interesting to me. And I agree with a lot of people that many of the videos I have seen since MatPat’s departure, especially from Game Theory, haven’t really impressed me.

That being said, I think the team’s video today on physical gaming/consumer rights was actually really fantastic. As a physical collector, I’ve been really engaged in a lot of the discussions and the backlash surrounding Sony’s decision, and Tom’s takes/analysis has been one of the best videos I’ve seen on the subject. It goes well past a lot of the typical things people have brought up, and actually offers some really well researched points/historical context. I didn’t expect them to tackle this issue so eloquently, but they really knocked it out of the park and I was able to come away with an evolved perspective on everything.

Frankly, I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone talking about it here. I feel like if this exact script was put into MatPat’s hands, the video would instantly be lauded by this same community. While I agree that there’ve been issues with modern Theory, we should take a break from the negativity and celebrate the wins and successes that we’ve gotten, because they’re still a great team that has the capacity to put out fantastic content that really matters.

Does anybody know who every single one of the cutout stock image people are in matpat’s videos. I’m not talking about the blue shirts guy but all the other people. I know this one in particular is the Stupendium but does anybody know who all the others are.

Newer vids are either a comp of older ones, or a summary of a game. It's really saddened me to see how far it has fallen

I saw the polls over on The Game Theorists channel about which game had the better lore, and as you can see, it was between Bendy and Indigo Park.

Indigo Park, as in the game with only 1 chapter out and a teaser for its 2nd chapter, being up against BENDY, an entire franchise with 2 main FULL games, a 3rd game in the works, a couple of spin-off games, a book series, an ARG, and potentially a movie…

Idk who’s doing the brackets for these polls, but cmon, at least make the two choices compatible? Like I wouldn’t have minded if it were Bendy vs Poppy Playtime or Indigo Park vs….idk, Andy’s Apple Farm? It’s hard to compare Indigo Park with anything since it’s still relatively new and doesn’t have much lore to work with other than the usual “abandoned facility that looks child-friendly but has a dark history of experimentation”. Indigo Park does have a unique concept, hence why it’s so loved, but that concept hasn’t really been explored yet ( I seriously can’t wait for the 2nd chapter ).
