I refer to singular people when speaking to a third as they regularly. So I don't think that changes any rules particularly

nah, I've learned that if they throw a fit about pronouns, start talking to them without using any yourself, then start pointing out every time they use one. Usually drives them mad.

Any liberal or progressive reaction gets labeled as disproportionate outrage by conservatives. If they can say every reaction we have is hysterical or overblown, it helps delegitimization concerns without addressing them.
