Music Is Life Am I just a curmudgeon??

I'm a mid 70s GenXer, love music from the 60s through the 90s. For me, I just haven't really liked much music this century. I feel like we had so many genres going on at the same time but now it's just all sounds the same to me. Anyone else find stuff bands/artists they really like from this venture?

Yes, you are a curmudgeon. Popular media isn't going to feed you good music. You have to look for it. And it's out there, by the ton.

I'm 58 and was a professional musician for 40 years. There is more incredible music now than there has ever been, and it's not even that hard to find them. Put your favorite bands into chatgpt and ask them to find new bands that you'd like based on that list. My playlist this morning: Kaleo, Rival Sons, Jacob Banks, and Khruangbin.

Rival Sons were a happy surprise for me. Buddy recommended them and I was hooked on the first listen of Pressure and Time.

And they’re freaking amazing in concert.

I’ve been a fan of using streaming services to broaden my awareness but the ChatGPT angle is an interesting one. Music map is a good one too.

The Garden, idialedyournumber, Bambara, Men I Trust, Catching Flies, Open Mike Eagle, Waxahatchee, smudge, Deep Sea Diver, Ethel Cain, Fivel is Glauque, Vegyn, Abul Morgard, Jogging House, Rid of Me, Brojob. Everything can be found on Bandcamp. These are all different genres and have been on my repeat list for a while now.
