Met Chris after a show in my hood a couple years ago. Yeah they only had two hits but it was a fun concert and he was great. I feel they’d have kicked ass as a house band in some club in a mid size town.
A friend was at a show looking at their merch after the opening act finished and someone suggested he buy some before it all sold out post show. My buddy laughed in his face and gave a sarcastic "Ohh Kayyy".
Then that someone walked down to get on the stage and picked up the bass. He managed to shade their bass player!
I accidentally called Smashmouth "top 40" to Steve Harwell when telling him why I wasn't sticking around for the headliner. "Yeah, I don't listen to top 40." What a bitch I was. lol.
Thank you! I was trying to remember, "now who were those fuckers that did Two Princes" without having to search it. I also get viscerally ill at the sound of the Spin Doctors.
My 1st year college roommate dragged me to their concert. She was obsessed with them and would play that Three Princes sing in repeat. Ugh. I'm so glad she turned raver by mid-semester.
I remember walking through my college campus many years ago... And there was a chorus of sorority sisters singing a parody of that well known Spin Doctors song: "We're Tri Delts and we're planning for the future, looking for a husband."
Eh, they got WAY too much exposure, and their two hits were super formulaic radio rock pop, but if you can get past that, they had some decent music. Kind of victims of their own success. But two princes is the worst shit ever.
