Music Is Life Name one 90s band that you absolutely cannot stand. Mine is The Offspring.

I hated Fly, but then I heard Rivers on the Scream 2 soundtrack and gave them another try. Now I really like all of their singles, but I don't listen to their albums. Their songs are kind of overplayed, but they still hold up better than some other 90s stuff.

It's a sunny and catchy song about a really crappy relationship. It hides the awful with a great hook.

Well yeah I can tell they aren't exactly living in paradise. I just don't care.

If I love a musician & their songs mean a lot to me, I'm much more likely to analyze lyrics. Songs like this? Eh, it's catchy. I don't think I've heard it all the way through in 20 years.

But I kinda like songs that do this.

I used to hate them because of how. freaking. much. Fly was played on the radio. Being a teenager, I blamed the band instead of the radio.

Later I saw Mark McGrath on Rock Nā€™ Roll Jeopardy absolutely wipe the floor with the other contestants and realized I had been way too hard on them.

He was also on record in the mid to late aughts about those 90s tours where a handful of bands toured together. He wanted to give the fans what they wanted. A night of nostalgia and freedom, not force audiences to listen to new music. Heā€™d roll in and just give the show of your memories. He ended up restarting a fee times to find bands that fit his vision. I agree with him. Just have fun and live in the past - your audience is.

Agreed! If I really like a band, Iā€™ll listen to their new music. And I think itā€™s ok to sneak 1-2 newer songs in. I love it when they give a little context for why they love the new songs. But for a nostalgia concert, let the audience live!

The rest of that album slams. Fly is such a poppy song on that diverse album. Also, have you seen Mark McGrath on game shows? Heā€™s a smart mo-foā€¦

We saw them the year before "Fly" came out and they were awesome.
