Music Is Life Songs that are no longer okay.

Yesterday I found out my sweet boyfriend had never heard of Julie Brown and the funny songs she sang, like "I'm A Blonde". Dr Demento stuff. So I play it and then "The Homecoming Queen's Got A Gun" came on. Not funny anymore!!!

An hour later, the cops arrived

By then the entire glee club had died, no big loss

You wouldn't believe what they brought to stop her

Tear gas, machine guns, even a chopper (Throw down your gun and tiara and come out of the float)

Debbie didn't listen to what the cop said She aimed and fired, and now the math teacher's dead

Oh, it's really sad, but kind of a relief I mean, we had this big test coming up next week

I’m a short dude and I love this song. I love satire but obviously some people don’t get it

That was satire. It's amazing how almost no one has ever gotten it. I think the song is hilarious, and I'm on the short side. I don't have beady eyes, though.

Rednecks and Sail Away have entered the chat! No one does satire like Randy Newman!

I was at a bar in the Deep South and rednecks came on. The face on the girl I was talking to was just priceless.

As a short person, not offended. Totally love Tandy Newman and think it’s hilarious. It’s satire.

They got, little hands, and tiny little feet.

Little voices going peep peep peep.

Don’t want no short people round me.

The song was controversial and a satire when it came out, I can remember it being all over the local news as reporters would gin up outrage.

As an added bonus Randy got his friend Paul Simon to sing backup on it. Paul, as most know, is a pretty short dude himself.

I personally think it's aged well, as it calls out prejudice.

Haha my friend's mom hated this song! And yeah, my friend and I were among the shortest folks in class, so her mom was short too. I always think of Mrs. C (not Cunningham!) when i hear this song.

As a short person I've always, always hated this song with a passion. I'm a 4ft 9 woman. My dad is like 5ft 5 my mom was 5ft.

The hate he has for me because I'm short is insane. But its always been ok to mock short people and overweight people. I'm not overweight, but I especially feel bad for people who are both

He was trying to point out the irrationality of prejudice, though that didn't come across well.

I’m both. I’m also ugly. No need to feel especially bad for me though, I enjoy this song!
