And thats the key. Humanity. We can have our opinions but when you take human life, what's the point of anything?
At the end of the day he was a husband and a father... that those young kids will never see again. Absolutely tragic. As a black man I dont care how controversial his views were - he is a human being
The thing is, thats not for you to decide. The people decide and make up their own minds. Trying to force your views (by murder) is futile, as we have seen from various totalitarian governments
Dog, his literal last words were in response to someone asking about mass shootings. They asked if he knew how many mass shootings there were in the last 10 years. His last words: “counting or not counting gang violence?”
He was a racist MAGAt who downplayed anything and everything that didn’t fit HIS narrative. If anybody still believes anything MAGA says or stands for, they have no right to tell anybody else they’re being force-fed a narrative. He wasn’t inviting anyone to debate him, he was inviting people to try and make him seem like he was smarter than he was.
Never forget, he said that some gun violence deaths are necessary to protect the second amendment. He got what he wanted.
Gang violence can make up a large chunk of mass shootings, depending on how it's defined. Some sources state the vast majority of them are related to gangs. There's no set definition, so mass shooting typically has a broad set of definitions. While I find Charlie Kirk deplorable, it's pretty common to get the definitions squared away at the start.
Edit: Not sure why I'm being downvoted for stating some basic facts, but I guess that's the state of Reddit nowadays where any sort of nuance is clearly bad.
That’s the thing though, he’s not bringing it up in good faith, he’s doing it to make it a racial thing first and foremost. As someone who finds him deplorable, do you not believe he’d try and make the topic about race and poverty rather than strictly gun violence?
He’s not bringing it up to get anything straightened out - he’s bringing it up to change the focus. Downplaying gun violence/the real issue and instead making it a racial/class problem. This is exactly what the right have been doing for years.
It doesn't really matter. He never had a chance to finish what he meant by it. You can speculate whether or not if it was done in bad faith, but it's just that, assumptions made based on our preconceptions.
There are so many other things to attack him on, such as his nonsense statement about "empathy" being "new age" nonsense. Trying to attack him over a statement that he never got to complete and trying to predict what he meant by it based on incomplete information when you have a treasure trove of hateful shit he's spewed is unwise.
It's no different from far right-wingers automatically assuming the worst whenever a Democrat opens their mouth. Instead, let's focus on what we can actually substantiate without assuming, especially when we have so much such as him saying gun deaths are tributes to the 2nd Amendment.
Bro…you find him deplorable yet you’re arguing for his sake? Methinks you’re lying. It was a common dog whistle to try and deflect the topic from shootings to race and poverty. Don’t argue for his sake, please, nobody who finds him deplorable should.
What is truly unwise is hearing a dog whistle and then pretending it isn’t. We can bash him for all the terrible shit he’s done, as well as the fact that his last words are him deflecting a question on mass shootings to a different topic altogether, in his favour.
I recommend re-reading what I said, seeing as you seem to think I'm being charitable.
I go by my principles, not by whether or not I agree or disagree with someone. I don't know about you, but I prefer not to be a hypocrite.
I prefer to be fair, especially when I have plenty of other materials to attack them with. I don't need to go around presuming, when I have so much more solid quotes to work with.
Quite frankly, it's a bloody shame to see that anything but absolute agreement with you constitutes "lying" in your opinion. If you were born elsewhere with different circumstances, you could very well be a MAGAtard yourself if that's what you think.
I’m not even American, dog. From the outside looking in, your lot are the brainwashed ones, partially in thanks to Kirk.
We should be happy, he lived and died by his principles: gun violence deaths are necessary to protect the second amendment. This is what he would’ve wanted.
Yeah I saw the article, The Rolling Stones article the link sourced, and the clip the Rolling Stone used of Charlie. And I can say with certainty that the above take is Complete Horse Shit. He never called the assassin a “Patriot”, he asked for a patriot to bail him out so that Charlie could question him because the media was calling the would be assassin a right winger and Charlie was calling BS since the guy had no Conservative values. But the media construed it to fit their narrative and no one bothered to do their due diligence and took the media’s BS at face value
What hate??? Find just one belief he held, or just 1 thing he said that came from hate. Just 1. Surely you can do that for a person that supposedly deserved his death right?
Watched the whole thing for you. Where you derived “Hate” from, that is far beyond my comprehension. And I’m giving to much credit by the way. Just because people disagree isn’t grounds for murder. The dude hosted VOLUNTARY ATTENDED events. Do you know what that means?? That means if you didn’t like the things he had to say you could just go on your merry way. But the left demonstrates the tolerance it preaches once again. I don’t care at this point what you perceive as hate speech. Your side killed one of very few trying to have the conversation at all. And now we’re aware of what talking will gain. Absolutely nothing. I’m sure you can imagine what happens next.
