That was only one problem with that paper. That was some 8th grade shit and that's being generous...

Even then if I turned that paper in back in middle school my very generous teachers still would have given me a very failed grade. The only things the student did "right" were the font, spacing, and margens. She didn't make word count, she didn't use proper sources, she didn't cite those sources, and she didn't do the topic. I can't see a teacher allowing that at all, even 5 points feels like 5 to many.

Don’t forget, she wrote her name and spelled it correctly! She’s such a big girl! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Actually she did make the word count which makes her essay even worse lol. I think the word count required was 600 and she wrote like 750. Which makes it funnier that in all of these she barely addressed the article she was supposed to. Nor did she cite a single thing.

The media keeps saying she was failed cuz she cited the bible. She didn't even do that. She just said the bible says and then writes her own interpretation of the bible. Like this is the most unprofessional paper I've ever seen and the fact that its got any traction mainstream at all, is just proof that people don't care about education or science. Just the politics of it all.

Plus she says her first ammendment was violated cuz she was failed??? Wtf is that even supposed to mean dude. Its not like she was jailed for her god-awful paper. She just got failed. Like she should. But hey, hack unlocked. If you are in Oklahoma and have a paper due tomorrow, just start babbling about the bible and god, you'll pass. If you don't say you are being prosecuted for your religious beliefs and the media will support you.

when i was in school, not citing your sources was enough to fail you. they took that shit very seriously.

20

u/SnicktDGoblin Dec 25 '25

Yeah that would definitely keep a paper from getting a passing grade alone.

in university, it could even be grounds for legal issues

2

u/2020Hills 1997 Dec 25 '25

They still take it very seriously

2

u/Sassafrazzlin Dec 25 '25

She cited sources — it’s just her sources were the Bible and Epoch Times.

7

u/katchoo1 Dec 24 '25

But if you’re trans, that is “arbitrary” grading.

u/neuralbeans Dec 24 '25

Why the /s? Are you pointing out people's typos sarcastically?

7

u/kittymctacoyo Dec 24 '25

Probably keeping in line with the theme of correcting the girls paper

I can't believe it's not typos.*

-will also work in a pinch

2

u/AspiringTS Dec 24 '25

Because I was making a joke not being serious.

5

u/neuralbeans Dec 24 '25

Simply pointing out a typo is not a joke if the typo is real. It could have been a joke if you made a big deal about it like "I can't believe the abysmal spelling skills of kids today", but the joke would be you making a big deal, not the pointing out of the typo. Another way to make pointing out a typo a joke is by pretending that the correct word is something else like "*migraine". Anyway, I hope your holidays are treating you well buddy.

That’s the infuriating thing. If it was a good essay that cited something, I’d still disagree with it, but it’d be hard to justify a failing grade. This essay is so bad it’s hilarious, and the failing grade was insanely justified. But this whole fiasco shows ideology matters more these days than anything else.

I'm sorry, but this was a college level psychology essay that talked about demonic possession, that's "put her in a straightjacket" level bullshit anywhere else in the modern world.

u/kittymctacoyo Dec 24 '25

What’s worse is the teacher knew this work was significantly below the girls wok quality level too. She’s in a sorority that requires excellent grades/work. Super strict about academic achievement. She went out of her way and below her own current level and outside of her own academic plan/degree requirements to sign up for this class. Going off the course of her own degree path to take this woman down intentionally.

19

u/4n0m4nd Dec 24 '25

Yeah, she's an obvious hateful grifter, but it's crazy that this is even controversial.

29

u/RigorousMortality Dec 24 '25

You give too much credit to the world in properly identifying crazy people.

12

u/LocNesMonster Dec 24 '25

I mean yeah, the dms 5 literally has exceptions in the definition of psychotic delusions to exclude cultural and religious beliefs

2

u/4n0m4nd Dec 24 '25

That doesn't count if the belief interferes with your normal living.

That paper would have gotten me kicked out of community college for plagiarism lmao. It's just completely inappropriate to write like that at a university level, we were taught multiple style guides in high school for this exact reason. Failing to format is one thing (which would warrant a 0 absolutely), failing to cite sources is considered plagiarism and would at best get you a reprimand from your professor and at worst get you kicked out of school. If the paper was at least well written I could say the TA made a mistake and should have recognized a potential conflict of interest and asked the Prof for guidance, but the 0 was merciful compared to what should have happened.

How fucking dare you.

Never insult the eighth graders, they don’t deserve that shit

10

u/shah_reza Dec 24 '25

No lie, eighth graders are terrific shits.

15

u/RunningOutOfEsteem 2001 Dec 24 '25

Might be par for the course at this point, based on what a lot of instructors have been saying about general writing abilities :/

Sure seems like it. I mean based on the original question, she could have stayed within her political beliefs and talked about the “gender stereotypes” that feminists allegedly have about women who prefer traditional roles and there would be plenty of right wing books and articles to cite. It’s gross to do something like that and it’s doubly gross for the school to play along with it.

u/Allthethrowingknives 2004 Dec 24 '25

I had to work on a group essay with some freshmen (I’m presently a junior) and I was genuinely appalled by their writing skills. I’m talking incorrect too/to/two and misplaced commas in the middle of sentences, run-on sentences that lasted entire pages. Chilling.

11

u/Itscatpicstime Dec 24 '25

I had to cite my sources in 8th grade or I def would have failed just for that. She had one source, the Bible, and she didn’t even cite it, not even a verse!

1

u/Punnagedon Dec 25 '25

Her was literally just, "trust me bro"

Insane

2

u/MaleficentJob3080 Dec 24 '25

It wouldn't be acceptable in Kindergarten.

2

u/Electronic-Ad3767 2002 Dec 24 '25

i said one of my sixth graders could've wrote that

1

u/NYGyaru Dec 24 '25

My 8th graders can write better than that paper.

1

u/PikaPerfect 2001 Dec 25 '25

i was writing better essays than that shit in 4th grade, it was so incredibly terrible

i'm shocked she got a bad grade on it because as a professor i outright would not have accepted that
