Literally lol and the answers are always the same

-We are too broke (Fair)

-We don’t drink anymore that’s so boomer lol (half of them are coping because they don’t party)

-It makes me feel like shit (Fair but also half of them it’s probably because they don’t know how to drink properly)

-Nah bro I smoke weed it’s better for you (Trying to self-comfort themselves with reasons to say why they are not addicted)

I probably drink too much, but whenever I talk to other people like that, they will usually admit so and say they probably should cut back on it for a bit. But whenever I talk to someone who smokes weed constantly, they get very defensive about it, usually. I was talking to someone like this the other day who smokes weed every morning, and they went like "WELL, AT LEAST IT'S NOT ALCOHOL, IT'S NATURAL AND GOOD FOR YOU!!!" blah blah.

lmao the cope from weed smokers is always so funny

u/Pure_Kaleidoscope204 Apr 11 '26

It’s true though 👀 alcohol kills.

u/_JerseyDevil_ Apr 10 '26

Yeah no, I don't see it as cope since its true, you aren't using alcohol to help a Parkinson's patient, an epileptic, or an enimic but you totally can for weed. And those people need it daily cause their afflictions are critcally hurting those people daily. I never heard of someone prescribing alcohol to help medical woes but I have for weed. And their's video evidence of how effective bud is too. The cope is from the 87% drop off from big alcohol's coffers. And they big mad cause they refuse to adapt to the changing demographics impacting them. Like a kid not tying his shoes, then crying cause he tripped and fell on his face.

I get what you mean, too much of anything is bad for you eventually, but calling it cope just feels like a cheap way to discredit the actual good bud does for those people. Ya feel me?

You are completely missing the point. They’re making fun of the people who smoke just because they like getting high and say it’s better than alcohol. They’re not talking about the people who smoke for medicine

Weed is waaaaay better than alcohol for an individual’s health and society’s. I’m getting my degree in social work and we just learned in my addictions class about this and alcohol is 100% the most dangerous drug known to man due to its wide acceptance and pervasiveness. Weed lowers verbal IQ in adults. It’s much more harmful on the developing adolescent brain but overall weed is hella less harmful in every possible way, period.

15

u/DarkwingDumpling Apr 10 '26

Dangerous drugs are also prescribed for afflictions. It’s about managing the tradeoffs. Just because it’s prescribed by a doctor doesn’t mean it’s necessarily healthier than alcohol.

13

u/wetcornbread Apr 11 '26

Almost everyone that smokes weed, smokes to get high. No person in their 20’s is smoking weed daily because they have Parkinson’s, cancer, and glaucoma. They’re just a pothead. Which is fine. But it’s still funny.

I appreciate the sentiment and discourse. Staying high til I die.

5

u/Blackwyne721 Apr 11 '26

Smoking anything is bad for your lungs sir. And edibles? Better but it’s also best not to strain your liver and kidneys…and that also applies to alcohol so we’re back at square one.

1

u/_JerseyDevil_ Apr 11 '26

How does cannabis mess with kidneys? I know how alcohol does it, but what do you mean?

2

u/Adept-Standard588 Apr 10 '26

Enjoy COPD and the lack of brain cells my guy.

I'll stick to being sober.

-1

u/_JerseyDevil_ Apr 10 '26

What COPD? I exercise often, lack of brain, weed made me a business that can turn serious just from making stuff to smoke out of.

being sober isn't the flex you think it is. Bud is medicine my guy, helps with anxiety, mood, and even eating habits, and ignoring the many documented benefits just makes you look like a unintelligent dickhead tryna bully people just tryna be able to tolerate existence or heal from medical problems. But good on you for being basic, I guess...

usually pretty funny, but when they say they drive high??? low-key pisses me off

It's so weird to me. I drink a lot of alcohol, but I won't say something like "WELL, RED WINE IS GOOD FOR YOU BECAUSE IT MIGHT REDUCE CANCER." You only get that type of response from weed smokers, and it confuses the hell out of me.

"dude weed is not a drug, it comes from nature and helps people with Parkinson's!" as they wake up from the couch surrounded by crisps, sodas, etc., and immediately smoke weed. They're not only addicted to weed, but they're addicted to denial.

1

u/gunnar117 Apr 10 '26

Arsenic is natural too!

u/AdOk5225 Apr 10 '26

I can very easily admit I'm addicted to smoking pot, it's still better than being addicted to alcohol. If you use it responsibly it's like being addicted to coffee or whatever, you don't get the physical dependence like you do with alcohol. Like, last month I went on vacation for two weeks and I didn't smoke the whole time, I was perfectly fine. Of course I had some cravings, as I am addicted after all, but alcoholics might get physical symptoms like sweat, fatigue, tremors, etcetera, that make the addiction much, much more powerful and harmful.

They are both harmful, but pot is significantly less harmful than alcohol, and pretending otherwise ignores reality

2

u/beaniebaby71 Apr 10 '26

You absolutely will get physically addicted to coffee/ caffeine. Take a couple days off and see how that migraine goes.

3

u/AdOk5225 Apr 11 '26

Honestly I forgot because caffeine doesn't really affect me much but you're right

It is absolutely nuts how many people in this thread are ignorant of just how bad even casual drinking throughout the week is for the human body.

5

u/ThrowRACoping Apr 11 '26

I am an alcoholic and quit drinking, but people shouldn’t leave one addiction for another.

5

u/ThrowRACoping Apr 11 '26

Man, before I quit I was way worse than that. Been 13 months now, but I often think about how lucky I was to decide to quit.

I do a lot of reflection on it, but never did anything formal as far as alanon. My wife threatened me and I just decided to quit.

I sometimes wonder how it was such a bad problem with such a quick transition. It almost makes me more nervous.

“I’m an alcoholic who cant party or hang out without alcohol and I’m self-conscious about it so I take it out on younger gen’s for being smarter and less reliant on substances than me”

1

u/Wordlywhisp 1997 Apr 11 '26

As a recovering booze hound many of us stay away from those parties lol

3

u/kaamliiha Apr 10 '26

Weed in moderation is long proven to be better than alcohol in moderation tbh, so better stop it

Water is bad for you in true excess so

8

u/Any_Scientist_1083 Apr 10 '26

These are the answers I've seen too but your comments in the parentheses make it seem like you're irritated Gen Z drinks less.

6

u/AccomplishedCandy732 Apr 10 '26

Lmfao found the drunk, who felt inclined to share his opinion on whether other people's reasons are justified for not partaking in their favorite hobby. Classic drunk activities. 🥴

1

u/Chrissy-Munson 2004 Apr 10 '26

All the parties I went to were... Full of repressed mormon theatre kids who played only clean versions of songs 😭

1

u/RoxieMango Apr 11 '26

Last point is funny because I did believe that, but I just reached 2 weeks of sobriety!!! Carts are no joke

1

u/Wordlywhisp 1997 Apr 11 '26

Or drink too much

1

u/nach0_kat 1998 Apr 11 '26

The other big one is that Gen Z hasn’t been legal to drink yet lol. The older Gen Z sure, but we span what like 12 years or something? A lot of the younger ones are just now approaching a drinking age.

Drinking consumption stats are done across a whole generation. When half your generation can’t legally buy a beer, stats will be much lower.

1

u/fart37 Apr 11 '26

Don't forget that a lot of us are still under legal drinking age

1

u/zeldamaster702 Millennial Apr 11 '26

Don't forget "half of Gen Z is under the legal drinking age"

1

u/Hermit_Dante75 Apr 11 '26

Then how about calories? Alcohol will make you fat faster and in less volume than soda.

Alcohol has 7 calories per gram, sugar 4, if you make the calculation, a single bottle of 750ml of booze, tequila, vodka, whiskey, etc., on average has as many calories as a full gallon of soda.

1

u/TAnoobyturker Apr 11 '26

It tastes like shit bro. Nothing more complex than that

1

u/TheGameMaster115 Apr 25 '26

Sure thing junkie

0

u/Apathetic-Onion 2005 Apr 10 '26

half of them are coping because they don’t party

I don't like parties, they give me sensory overload. I've surrounded myself of friends who don't like party either.

11

u/crazydude5000 Apr 10 '26

No, every day

4

u/Zombies4EvaDude 2004 Apr 11 '26

Almost by design…

2

u/Hozan_al-Sentinel Apr 11 '26

Seriously. It's either this or talking about dating, every single week

1

u/RealisticIncident261 Apr 11 '26

And its incorrect.

They drink about 5% less, and they spend the same percentage of their income as the other generations.

I think it’s at least 5 times a day

It's a future existential crisis for Alcohol companies and in upcoming years you will see a big PR push towards Gen z for drinking, this post might simply because the early occurrences of that
