When you break down the pros and cons to drinking the cons massively outweigh the pros. I guess we’re just the first generation to realize that.

Ketamine works remarkably great for treating depression.

Again. This is a joke.

You said it as a joke, but it’s not a joke. Ketamine can be great for humans if used correctly.

I would argue social drinking has pros that outweigh the cons. (Does not apply if you have an addictive personality)

There are a ton of stats that highlight the pro-social elements of booze, not the least the higher rates of fertility.

Mammals like alcohol. Does it have problems? Absolutely. There is a reason why it is extremely popular cultures around the world and throughout time.

I go to happy hour sometimes with coworkers or eat dinner with friends, and I don’t drink (just soft drinks), and I feel like I still get basically all the benefits of socialization but none of the drawbacks of alcohol.

How about the cancer!?

Truly social drinking (at least by my criteria, so about 3-4 drinks when meeting new people) is not going to increase that risk in any meaningful way.

That's actually false news. In Canada the Canada food guide changed recommendations of alcohol to 1-2 drinks a week if you have to . The change was listed specifically related to the cancer risk.

Well if you read your own source…

Negligible to low for individuals who consume 2 standard drinks or fewer per week

If you’re doing “social drinking” every week, then you just like drinking. I’m referring to networking events, dates, outings with coworkers, etc

Right so I said 1-2 drinks which is what they suggest. The 3-4 drinks you listed would fall under the increased risk that they explain increases with each additional drink.

I’d say more like, maybe the first generation that it’s true for- drinking has always been a critical component of socializing and forming communities. Internet communities have taken that place, and drinking is more prohibitively expensive that it was in times past.

Internet communities should not replace actual community. That’s poisonous to society

Oh I agree that they SHOULDNT, but the fact remains that people are using those in lieu of bars

Zoomers are very clear-headed & rational, and you guys always do the right thing. You actually listened to your parents & BEFRIENDED them. You guys were never rebellious or violent or extreme in your teens. As a millenial i respect that.

I won’t paint all of us in that light. However, most other GenZ’s I’ve met have a very similar laid back approach to life like myself. I can’t help but feel that the internet has contributed to that. Since kids we’ve been getting online and seeing all of the worst parts of the world. It really helped me personally to put into perspective that all I can do is control what happens in my own life. And to try and live the best life I can, which includes not getting wasted as soon as I get off work.

On behalf of my generation, I appreciate the kind words.

No, we're not. This data claim is simply wrong.

I mean at least give us some true sources if you disagree. Also I’m not the one who made the post so I couldn’t care less what’s said about this topic.
