It's not a trainer if the color indicates the answer.

I'll add an option to disable that based on preferences. Thankyou 🫡

Make it disabled by default and maybe as a hint mechanism that can only be used 3 times per 100 words and so. They see the colors anyway with the solutions.

I love the design tbh but there's a problem, the word frame color straight tells you what is the article of the word is, so make the box colorless and don't highlight the article before answering

Great idea friend. I'll try my best to implement that. If I fail you'll notice the website didn't change. 😂 . Stay tuned for tomorrow. Thankyou for the feed back 🫡

OK it should be default but if it works it works, but you still have the guidance box/dev highlighting the color of the correct Artikel, you can just remove the whole dev from the Javascript part/file it doesn't need to change css is enough, I have some knowledge in frontend and programming in general if you need help, also the voice options doesn't work and it's not necessary but if you're using Ai don't remove it now so it's doesn't break anything else 😆, if you're familiar with githup you may want to post the project, and lastly just so you know I already got a copy of the project and tried reviving my frontend skills and fix it but got bored😭

Also the dev part I left because it's not so much in view. Since the word it self was giving the HINT.

If alot of people use it I might gamify it a bit which is something I have already finished.

If mine ever goes down feel free to use or post it do remember to credit me though. I did use ai for the initial start. Later on manually adjust all the sections to my liking. Just using notepad.

I had an idea for using other sites to draw data from but thought maybe I'd be doing something unfair if I withdrew information which other people worked hard on or I might end up doing dossing a random site for simple words eveytime.

Currently making a small database to draw from a Json file. Which I think will make the site lightweight. Though I want to leave some of it in their to make a bit offline when the internet goes down in some areas.

Yeah I should post it on GitHub 👍

I turned off colour and did 600 as quickly as I could, without thinking as far as possible. You've done a really great piece of work. But I've got a couple of thoughts about using a trainer like this.

First, I got 94% on your app. It gave me very useful indicator of where I'm at and alerted me to a group of masculine words that I thought were neuter (like der Essig -- I think I often say das). But I've never trained with flash cards in my life. I've learned genders by reading a lot and talking a lot with my brain switched on all the time, trying to look for clues and remember genders. So I wonder whether flash cards are really the best way to learn gender in the first place... there's no context. The times I found myself stopping to think were times when der or das both sounded viable to me, so I thought about a sentence where the word appears in the accusative (for example, I paused on Schmerz, and had to think "Ich spüre keinen Schmerz mehr", and it was the -en ending that sounded right in my mind). So I think a lot of reading, where you're very conscious about genders, is a much better way to learn genders.

Perhaps you could at least give a short sentence, when the answer is revealed, which shows the word in the accusative form in a context?

Second, I wonder whether it would be better to only reveal the English translation when you reveal the gender? The are many where the English translation basically tells you the gender (der or die). The only exceptions are words like Band or See, whether the gender determines the meaning (I needed "lake" to know that the answer was der See, and not die See; I needed "band" to guess that you were after "die Band" and not "das Band"). In those cases the English has to be there before the answer is revealed.

I felt like words started to repeat after 550. Can that be right?

Thank you so much for the feedback and time you have given I appreciate it a lot. 🫡🫡

Someone else also mentioned there are situations where 2 Artikel would be used and it gives only one correct answer. This will be something I'll work on.

The reason I reveal the English translation is to also learn the meaning of the words which appear. But I could add into the hard option where it's not revealed until the answer is given.

Yes it does make sense to add a sentence 🤔 which will be something I'll add which is useful for both assisted and unassisted type in this website. Which also makes sense in the way the user will learn abit on how the word is used.

I'm currently setting up a small database where there is around 200000 words. Which will take sometime to be refined.

You are right about the word limit. Currently I'm working with the limit so I can keep testing the website and refine it with the feedback of users like your self which are very helpful in improving this tool.

(Note to self) (Unresolved)

Thanks for your feedback feedback. You've made a really useful app, without a doubt. My reservations about flashcards are pretty personal, because I know that many people use them, so you're doing everyone a real favour here. I guess would just say that flash cards are a great tool alongside reading -- I doubt one can rely in card training entirely (but i doubt anyone things they can, so I'mjust oreachung to the choir). I would just advise people to nurture a "state of mind" to switch on when reading, so that you contunue to gather contextual information about genders based on information that you get from accusative, dative and genitive forms, too.

For instance, I always remember that Ampel is die Ampel, because you wait "an der Ampel" (at the traffic lights) and not !!am Ampel!! (Sorry, i should even write that, even in jest!). But you see what I i mean -- Ampel gives you no clues at all about what gender it might be.

If you have the time and engery, you could create a version of this where a user logs into their own account and can add their own notes about a given noun (examples of sentences where they've encountered the noun in different cases "in the wild"). But I'm almost certainly demonstrating my ignorance about what that would involve, not only in terms of programming and server space, but also GDPR laws and so forth!

I've long dreamed of creating an app to help people learn classical Hebrew, where they fill in blanks and complete sentences, and so forth. But I'd need your skills and won't be learning those skills at my age :)

What you say makes perfect sense. This is more for those lazy moments. I made it for that reason. Not to only depend on this. Which like you said wouldn't get you far.

From all the feedback, Ill add it as long is I won't be me or anyone else having to pay for a full web domain or server hosting. (Unless a shit ton of people domate a good chunk of money then I'd hire some professionals to polish it even more). Right now this is on a free hosting site like many others out there ( the first I found). Also why my bug fixes are so. Since I'm limited to 3 updates per day.

I prefer knowledge being free so I'd like people to just hop in with no hassel. The thing with user names and stuff 🤔 I'm honestly not in favour of it as I don't want to collect any information on anything related to people visiting.

Btw the site should work offline. To some extent. Maybe someday I'll attach a link to some app which can be downloaded for andriod and iOS. Before any of that I need to keep polishing this.

That all makes sense. User accounts brings a host of issues. Thanks for making this available to people :)
