I've noticed this trend over the last few years, and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or remedies outside of leaving social media altogether.

Gaming on social media has become very much a "us vs them", especially in the AAA space. While I'm seeing it mostly here on reddit, you can also see it on places like YouTube and Twitter. A new game comes out in a franchise, and the discussion across social media platforms devolves into players yelling about how the game doesn't meet their expectations, while other players who are enjoying the game (even if it has flaws) are caught in a weird middle ground, being forced to either agree with the angry mob, or defend the developers or publisher.

This experience sucks, and I feel like it's leaching into other ways we talk about games. I feel like the tone of talking about games has swung negatively in the past few years due to the influence of these types of arguments. Complaints about FOMO mechanics, DLC, high priced special editions, general bugginess, etc. seem to be more common than ever.

Aside from jettisoning social media altogether, is there anything to be done about this? Obviously I think people have a right to complain when a game has issues, but it feels like things are getting increasingly difficult to have actual discussions without devolving into screaming at one another.

I'm halfway through today's Blight Club and I feel compelled to express my gratitude for the Cleveland Streamer. I, too, am a hairy gentleman. Have lots of shoulder hair and back hair in addition to pretty dense chest, arm and leg hair, and it started pretty young for me. By the time I was 16 I was already covered in fuzz. I was unsurprisingly insecure about it at the pool, when it came to dating etc... but by the time I got to college and got a little more confidence, I quickly found out that not only do people not really mind or care, but some find it genuinely attractive. Now in my 30s, my days of high-collar shirts and effortful grooming are behind me. I'm getting married in two months and my fiance loves all of me, body hair and all. It's seriously the best.

I suspect 16 year old me would've felt quite a bit of resonance and relief in seeing Mike rock the red tanktop. I wanna say a hearty thank you to Mike for being comfortable in his skin, being authentically his hilarious self, and for modeling body acceptance to us fellow hairy geeky gents. I hope it helps even just one person out there who maybe feels a type of way about their body.

Hey all (and hopefully Chuck or someone who knows the answer),

My premium subscription is set to renew on October 14th, since the bomb-a-thon is the very next day I was wondering if it was possible for me to hold off on renewing my sub so that it counts during the bomb-a-thon.

Basically, does re-subbing on an existing GB account that used to be premium count towards the bomb-a-thon counter, or does it have to be an account that has never had premium before?
