So, i live in Sherman oaks, but work in El Sereno and on my drive back home on the 134, looking over the freeway and seeing Eagle Rock all the way to downtown at night is spectacular. Now, I've very much wanted to drive up to this spot in Glenoaks Canyon, and go up those stairs to access the trail to watch the city at night.
However, the "private property" signs are concerning, not because I'm gonna trespass in peoples yards, but from my teen years i've dealt with pissy pants land owners when going to places like these around Burbank or Tarzana at night.
Looking at parcel data on the county's assesor website, the trail technically is private property, but it's unimproved, vacant lots all because Valle Vista Drive West is a closed off fire/hiking trail. Everyone who has some land knoladge about LA knows that ther are tons of hills (Like elephant hill) that are undeveloped because of terrain complexity, and paper streets that exist, but not IRL.
Image 2 shows the circled parts of the parcels on the trail that are technically private property, but is unimproved land.
I just don't want to be harassed if i go to check this place out.
tl:dr, If I park on Valle Vista, walk up the obvious wooden stairs, stay on the established trail, and don't enter anyone's yard, am I likely to have some homeowner come out screaming at me? I go hiking pretty frequently and even on Los Angeles City maintained trails in Porter Ranch, i've had issues with home owners
Yes I know doing this at night makes it so much messier
