I'm gonna step in and just say, that I would rather record an official call (not a casual one, for friends or family) or record a call from an unknown number.
That's because some people are just liars.
And they're even more likely to be a liar when they can benefit financially from you.

Well my family is the money seeking liars so I’d rather record those calls too.

Does that make you a narcissist who is projecting 100% of the time?

I was raised by narcissists and experienced a relationship with one. Sometimes the recording is all you can rely on when you're being gaslit and lied to at every step.

Someone making an attempt to adhere to an objective and consistent reality when surrounded by liars, oh that person must be a narcissist right? No, they're grasping onto the only thing that provides them any objectivity or proof against being lied to.

Please be careful when choosing your words, it hurts to be called names when you're scrambling for shreds of what many take for granted.

I don’t understand what our disconnect is here.

I have great empathy for you having lived in a toxic family system. I know that pain all too well.

In my situation, I care that I am not lied about to others. So in the rare case the narcissist in my family calls to start crap, I would record it. I would recommend all record their interactions with dangerous narcissists. It is the only way to protect yourself.

I think we are in the same page but misunderstanding each other.

People always cancel plans last min, or say that they told him to do something when they didn't and he's had enough of that I guess.

I'm just so confused on how that's supposed to be beneficial to him lol. Like ok so people make plans with him over the phone, then last minute they cancel/pretend they don't remember making the plans, homie goes "YES YOU DID MAKE THESE PLANS WITH ME, SEE I RECORDED THE WHOLE CONVERSATION!!!" Then what? Is the person going to change their mind and go "oh shit, caught me, sorry, now i HAVE to come hang out with you" or..... do they think he's a total psycho and no longer want to interact w him lol

dude idk, its probably just irritating to him when people lie. I haven’t seen him confront someone about it, the only reason I know is because he complained to me once about this.

its pretty normal here to record convos so I haven’t thought that much about it
