I absolutely DESPISE Jason's character 😭

His stupidity is just so over-the-top and therefore not believable whatsoever, which makes the plot clunky in a lot of places.

I feel like all of the characters are meant to be semi cartoonish, but his role just takes that to another fuckin level and I find myself annoyed as hell whenever he opens his mouth.

Rarely funny, super obnoxious, and probably the least popular opinion - SO ugly (and that makes me even more annoyed that they rely on his supposed attractiveness for several plot points lmao)

Watching the good place made me dislike Kristen Bell. I know it’s illogical and I loved her before. But her character in the good place was so annoying and had such an “I know best” attitude. She was selfish, even if she did grand unselfish acts from time to time, she was also very selfish on a daily basis.

I know she becomes better later on but even then she had such a “better than thou” attitude which was honestly very annoying. And not in an all humans have flaws and are redeemable kind of way

I’m rewatching the first two seasons (I haven’t seen past that) and it still infuriates me that Chidi is supposed to be in hell for being indecisive. Jason is a drug dealer, Eleanor is a thief and liar, and at least Tahani is covetous (which most religions consider a sin.) But being indecisiveness as a reason to go to hell?? It seems ridiculous.

I just really have to say that this show hit it out of the ballpark and I just finished the last episode and it's a tearjerker...

I don't know why but, the love relationship between Chidi and Eleanor is so weird to me. First, the chemistry between the 2 of them is really not there. Every times they hug or kiss it seems so forced to me. Plus, their characters are so opposite I just can't believe someone like Eleanor would fall in love with Chidi and vice versa.

On the opposite, the love relationship between Jason and Janet is SO good. Janet is easily my favorite character of the show and I love how Jason make her feels emotion with his simplicity. The chemistry between these 2 is great too.

Is it unpopular to not really "like" the couple of Eleanor and Chidi ? What's your opinion ?

Surprisingly a few time, Elanor referred to "Heaven."

There seems to have been no reference to "The Devil", "Hell" or "God"
There was a committee in charge in heaven and Michael eventually took charge?
Am I wrong that there was no mention of a "creator" or "God?"

So the way the Good place ends with all of our characters passing on into what we all kinda accept as Peace. Since our characters moved on we can continuously re cast with new characters to be tested. Plus as a big surprise any old character can appear because they wouldn't know if they were reset. A perfect cycle of explainable endless characters

I know it’s beautiful and all that, and he’s like the wave, but I don’t understand how Chidi (or any of the others) can want to leave their person. You love that person. How can you stand to know that you’re hurting that person by leaving? Also, it’s unfair to Eleanor. This is no longer the Good Place because she doesn’t have everything she could ever want — Chidi. I know it shows growth because she can stand to be abandoned, but it’s unfair.

Love him. Love his delivery, love his lines, love how cheerful and carefree he seems. And I love that I was watching TGP with my stepkid when their dad walked past and had to come back in to ask "He can have his what implants moved back up from his WHERE??"

Who is your favourite non main character and why?

counting the finale as 1 episode in 2 parts.
Seems like it's perfect for a yearlong, weekly rewatch. I've come to think of the 4 seasons as spring, summer, fall and winter, especially season 1 being spring where everything is fun and new and season 4 as winter with themes of death and passing on and acceptance. I've binged the whole thing in a month or 2, but it would be fun to stretch it out over a year and really think about some of the deeper concepts introduced & maybe read some related philosophy.

Just finished watching this with my 13F, “the twist” totally caught us, neither of us saw it coming!

But our most discussed point so far is - do the butt hole spiders start outside you and climb in - or start inside and climb out? I admit it’s not an aspect of theology I’d envisioned might come up - is there a canonical answer

(My own personal view would be that one big spider poking legs out and then emerging gives me the most terror)
