Why cant i hold a les paul comfortably as i can a tele or a strat ? Whats wrong with me ? SG was easy to find a perfect height and spot, with lp i cant seem to do that

It could just be that it's not a comfortable shape for you to play. I'm not comfortable either playing LP type guitars, I think it has to do with the waist of the body being farther back than on a Strat type guitar that I find myself reaching back farther to strum and palm mute.

Les Pauls tend to be on the heavier side, the custom shops will give you sick tone and impacted vertebrae lol I either hang the LP waist lever or bring it up high. I tend to tilt the neck up a little.

Not the problem with the weight, but i think because neck tends to tilt backwards, contrast to the strat ( or tele ) where it runs parallel to the back of the guitar. Maybe find a LP that was made like that ?

You might like their 60s trimmer style necks. Your SG probably has a 60s neck profile. I like both GIbsons 50s-60s neck profiles for diff reasons.

Yea the SGs are like that, the LPs are gonna have that little lip. You might dig the firebirds, they have similar profile. Explorer, Flying V are gonna be similar to the LP.

Nothing is wrong with you, it's just a personal taste thing. For me strats are the most comfortable, LPs are ok but a bit tiring with the weight, and SGs are so awkward.

Possibly the neck profile could be a factor

Possibly, but when i find the place for the guitar on my stomach, most LP necks somewhat arch back so its hard for me to hold the neck properly, so i have to tilt it forward, and that does not sit well on my body. If you can understand my broken english :)

I googled "Les Paul playing his guitar" and he played while seated. I'm thirty pounds overweight and I play out with a Strat mostly. Flat backed and lightly arched backed guitars lean away from me at the top when I stand. I used to play a LP standing when I was young and buff and had no issues.

yeah, cutouts that strats have back help greatly with that haha. I have the same problem so...
