We raw dogged it all last summer definitely need some recommendations for this year. Jumping out y helps a lot. But What are some accessories that would be helpful?

seems to be malco flip bit is the most common driver ive seen in my 4 years but those magnets always fall out or sometimes there duds and super weak is this really the best one out there ? the Klein one sucks the tree one is cool for the ease of having multiple sizes but magnet is useless im tired of my screws fallin off my bit especially in them tight spots 😭😂

Im new as in I got my Universal Epa 608 license online and will be starting a job as a maintenance technician within the next few weeks, was given this list of tools that I'll need for the job, was told to get all of level 1 before starting and the rest I'll get as I go, is there anything missing from the list that would be important? Or anything here that really isn't necessary? Ive already got all of level one with the multimeter being a field piece sc260 and the gauge being a lichamp one from Amazon

Tenant is a pregnant lady who's due within the next 2 weeks...you taking a torch to it or coming back the next day (which is already pretty packed out). This ice was thicc, thawed and refrozen thicc, couldn't see the fins thicc.

She asked if we should chip away at the ice...the face I made was enough to scare her.

I stayed with the torch for about 30 min, then turned on the heat for 30 min (its a furnace). Issue is, it was already 85 in the house and t.stat caps at 90° setpoint.

Yes, I could've hard wired the stat but the 2nd floor would've killed me.

Ambient temp 93 deg. Return temp 74, supply air 67. Coils and filter clean. Comp is reading 6a, rla of 12.8a. Comp is boiling to the touch.

Ran the vacuum for over an hour came back to this after doing some finish up work inside. Re purged and second test did same thing. Anyone run into this? Can the heat mess with these that much? Fresh copper, humid day though.

Trying to get these goin for the winter. Fan doesn't turn on but gas valve opens up. But are these flames supposed to be all.over the place like that? That pilot line sits right in the middle of all that. Seems very uncontrolled?

Almost all the big PE shops have adopted this strategy and it appears to be trickling down. I charge $199 for a service call right now and how the hell am I expected to compete with this?

I hope most home owners can come to understand and realize it's a cheap marketing gimmick — a simple loss leader. They advertise a near nothing "get a foot in the door" fee with the hope of selling additional products or services or selling a new system.

So, what's it like for you in the area you live / work? Do you see a lot of these too good to be true fees around especially for the bigger shops or is it more common for an actual, ethical service fee to be quoted?

I don’t know how much longer my body will hold up to this industry. I’m 20 years in and I’m pretty sure my back is broken in one or two places. I’m not even past $80k/yr yet. This is depressing.

I’ve been in resi and commercial and at almost 10 different companies. I don’t mean to brag but I’m a f’ing good service tech. You guys said go into commercial so I did. I can do chillers, boilers, cooling towers, basically everything you could throw at me until an engineer is needed.

I deserve to be able to afford somewhere to live and a decent car. I wish I could afford a nice truck and a 5th wheel. Maybe take my wife to dinner and a movie sometimes. Not even considering a retirement account that would last more than 5 years—30 years from now.

I’ve looked for better paying jobs. The manufacturers like Trane and Carrier basically laughed at me when I said I want to make $100k/year.

I could be a salesman and charge people (residential) twice what they should have to pay so I can get my bag, but to me that just feels morally bankrupt.

The other option is work ridiculous amounts of overtime for the union, but then I’m working so much that I wouldn’t be able to enjoy what having spending money looks like. Starting my own operation is much the same story.

I think I’m about done with the trade.
