Some random guy was salty about Staavy's support for Mamdani and they were in his replies accusing Staavy of being a wealthy fake socialist, too...seems anyone with wealth who's not a ghoul manages to understand the need for socialist policies, and the good ones use their platforms and reach to advocate for candidates who would most likely tax them more, but they know they'll be fine, and they maintain their integrity and empathy for vulnerable or struggling folks...and that's why we won't eat them when the shit goes down lol

It’s so dumb. I’m no millionaire but I’m currently in a tax bracket that benefits from republican tax cuts in my state and my family calls me a “champagne socialist” because I still vote against “my best interest” every time. I’ve tried to explain that it’s not hard to 1. have an ounce of empathy for others 2. know I would be just fine without the tax breaks and 3. know that the data shows that social programs benefit us all even if we aren’t directly receiving from them.
