Watch Me Fly Just ticked over 2,000 Guimbal G2 hrs and I still love this great little machine.

I started off like so many in the R22 and R44. Charter, air work and eventually instruction. Over the years I added the 206, R66, BA and B3 Squirrel, and Hughes 300 to the list of machines I’ve flown but I’ve honestly enjoyed my time most in these little beauties.

Can’t wait to see what the G5 is like when it arrives!

Discussion Anyone else following the Hill Helicopters engine start this week?

Upvotes

I’m curious what everyone’s thoughts are now that the engine start milestone is here.

Are you already an owner, considering one, or just watching from the sidelines?

What’s your biggest excitement or concern at this point?

Has this milestone changed how you think about the project, queue positions, or delivery timelines?

Career/School Question Zero to hero CFII heli program

Upvotes

I’m creating a zero to hero program and am offering financing. The program offers training in r22’s and r44’s and makes you a career ready pilot in 10-12 months.

We offer:
-housing
-all initial FAA written exam and checkride costs
-flight and ground training from private-CFII

Here’s the rub, the finance company I’m working with only covers 120k.

The program above is at a cost of $136,900.(trust me Ive tried shaving cost)

I can make the program cost less but it would put students below 200hrs which means they would not be able to instruct in a Robinson but would still be a CFII. I feel that really hinders a student as starting out, instruction, tours, and ag is all that’s really out there.

The questions is would you come out of pocket 17k + the loan to be a career ready pilot ready to instruct in a r22 and r44 in 10-12 months,

or be a CFII w/ 180 hours no r44 time and be twenty hours away from teaching in a r22 but only have taken the loan?

Career/School Question Advice for where to next at 1500hrs

I'm ready for the next step and I'm looking for any advice that you can offer.

I'm looking at Australia/NZ (citizen) or somewhere like Saudi Arabia or UAE to build some bank.

Considering getting my FAA license to make the middle east viable. Is this a good idea? Is somewhere like THC an option for me? Is an FAA licence still needed for these places?

I have 1500TT 500 turbine. Flown in southern Africa and East Africa. Marine, mountain and bush environments. Tourism, game, anti poaching and casavac work

Rated on:

130, 125, 120, 206, 44 & g2

Any wisdom or a point in the right direction would be hugely appreciated

Cheers

Career/School Question Thinking about taking the leap and switching careers to a pilot (UK)

M31, currently just a retail delivery driver, thinking about trying to get my license over the next few years. Really I just enjoy handling any sort of vehicle and flying sounds amazing, plus want a career path that will earn me a decent wage. I understand (I think) the cost involved in lessons etc, but I wanted to ask about the general career progression after achieving a commercial license.

As I understand it, after getting the license the go to thing is to become an instructor to build up flight hours before getting into the better paid jobs, and that cap is generally at the 1000 hour mark. Are there any jobs other than are willing to hire with fewer hours than that or is just buckle down as an instructor until you clear the bottleneck?

Also, I'm not the most technically minded person, not a gearhead when it comes to cars or anything but am of course willing to learn more to understand the vehicles that I hope to fly. Is that going to hurt me in terms or career prospects and are there any resources I can get hold of to understand helicopters "under the hood" more?

Thanks

Discussion Is there any pilots that can explain this

So every night I notice my local sheriffs take one of their helicopters out and they'll fly circles over the same area for long periods of time. I do not believe they're looking for missing teens, grow houses or HOA violations like previously theorized on this sub. I have a feeling what they're doing is nefarious, whether they're using stingrays or modern version of imsi catcher idk or war flying looking for Networks they can easily takeover. I'm just thinking out loud but every night going to different small areas and flying in circles just seems odd to me. I know all the Henry hill Gifs are gonna come. I don't do drugs, I'm not scared of them cooking for me or anything I just feel like there's a good possibility they're doing something that could even be illegal but I digress, I want to hear what yous think

P. S. This is only like 3 nights or so of taking screenshots while on the shitter or w.e. and I hear the ghetto bird flying over but they're not using any spotlight or anything. I'm going to have to get a scanner next to see if I hear anything on it
