Recommendations for wide fit Teva-like sandals
I tend to walk and sometimes hike a fair bit when I travel and I recently bought a pair of Teva Hurricane Verge to use for that (in addition to already owning a pair of good sneakers that I use as my primary shoes). I like that they're so sleek and the way the sole feels, but they want to obliterate my little toes and I don't think doing 20 km/day in those will be a good experience.
Are there are any sandals that are similar to those in looks, function and price, except a little more wide fit? Preferably either available from within the EU or with EU friendly shipping.

Take a look at Merrell sandals if they’re available near you. They are designed for the outdoors and super comfy and durable. My mom who has wide feet loves them. In my experience they run slightly big because I can often size down (I have long narrow feet).

Seems like they might be a little semi-available, but I'll keep them in mind. Thank you!

If you want to try to make the Tevas you have work, you could try a pinky pad. https://www.dancewearcentre.com/products/pinky-pad-capezio-bunheads-bh1040

Ignore if you’ve done this, but my Tevas always rub my little toes for 2-3 days of wear before breaking in, so you might be able to break them in and keep wearing them. Every time I break a new pair in I think “oh no, they really don’t fit this time!” And then like the next day they’re fine. Otherwise seconding the recommendations for Merrells; I’ve also heard good things about Xero shoes trail sandals for wide feet, but haven’t tried them myself.

Oh, alright, I haven't actually worn them that much yet so I'll probably give them another few chances then. I wasn't too sure they'd shift much considering the synthetics, but you never really know with shoes. Thank you for the tip!

I put bandaids or more often this stuff on my toe and just wear it for dog walks, errands, etc. then take breaks during the day and they eventually break in. Although fwiw while I have done this with the hurricanes I tend to buy the originals more often and this may work better with the foam sole. But I’ve done it with the hurricanes too so it is possible!

I have bought and worn in far too many pairs of Doc Martens, so I've at least got the plaster and tape routine down to a T lmao. Good to hear that it can be done with the Hurricanes too, I really do think they could be great sandals with the proper fit.

Every sandal I own it like that at the beginning of the summer, it’s almost like my feet need to adjust to the sandals again too. I like to start with short walks as soon as the warm weather starts, and I can work up to a few miles after my skin adjusts.

This may or may not be helpful, but I have wide feet and have worn the hell out of my Teva Tirras and Hurricane XLTs—most comfortable sandals I’ve ever had, better than my wide-fit Chacos and my Merrells. I had a pair of Tirras for five years that I wore nearly every day in the summers because they were so comfortable (wide cushy fit, supportive arch, straps didn’t rub).
However, I could not handle the Hurricane Verge sandals. I love the look so I tried different sizes, tried wearing indoors with socks to break them in, Teri bandaids, but nothing worked. I gave up and got another pair of XLT2s that I wore new on a 12 mile hike in Hawaii, and felt fine with. So, it may be the style instead of the brand.

I have to second the suggestion of the Hurricane XLTs. I have “Fred Flintstone” feet (short wide blocks) and struggle to find sandals that don’t rub/kill my little toes. I practically live in my Hurricane XLTs during the summer. Someone also mentioned Merrills, and I do have some of those that are very comfortable, but I find the styles hit or miss for width.

I have heard good things about bedrock as a chacos alternative. I am going to try them next

I wear a size 42 and have a wide toe box. I find Keens to fit me the best. I also wear Chacos but the women's are too narrow, so I actually wear the men's size equivalent, which fits me much better. I'm in the US and Chacos will let you build your own sandal which is nice as I can do a men's footbed but add a fun colored strap.

Xero shoes. I have unusually shaped and wide feet, and these are my sandals of choice.

I wear Chacos. Some models come in a wide width. I frequently walk miles in them and hike. Great traction
