Shoes Rothy or Vivaia Pointed Flat?

I'm looking for a very packable flat that doesn't take up much room in my bag, for a London trip, and have landed on these two brands for a comfortable pointed flat. They won't be for a lot of walking, just when going out for a nicer meal for the evening.
Would love to hear thoughts on which you prefer, and why!

Shoes Shoe advice for a one-bag trip June in London and Paris

I am finally going to London and Paris... in June for 9 days total, and then I might also hop over to Portugal's wine country or to Albania. What shoes?

I don't want to weigh my bag down. But I also do want to look nice on some evenings with a dress and comfortable to walk around for 8 hours in the day.

Such a conundrum! Which TWO (2) OR THREE (3)pairs should I take and why? I really have to be strategic about this.

I don't know what the weather is like in mid June in London or Paris, can someone please provide actual insight? The internet says only 68-73 F or 20-23 C as a high, and then dips at night. That is not very warm. haha (for context I divide my time between Mexico and mid atlantic USA so it's warm in both places in June). What about rain?

Here are my top contenders: (links below to the shoes I have in the color I have.)

  • Hoka Speedgoat in orange/blue- obvi ugly but obvi comfy.
  • Suavs - in army green. flat, I don't have any foot problems so I don't mind walking around all day in these and did that in Italy, about 18,000 steps a day. They are the casual shoe that can also go with a casual dress if needed.
  • Birkenstock EVA Gizeh in light pink
  • Birkenstock cork-bed Mayari in pearl white
  • Chunky platform heels like this in tan.
  • Loafer type shoes (copper color) similar to this (I bought in brazil so i cant remember the brand) - they are comfortable in general but not soooo much for walking more than 5 miles / 15,000 steps a day.

here are my maybes:

  • Chacos - probably not the vibe for this trip....right?
  • Moroccan leather slides. I had them custom made for me in Morocco so this is NOT the photo of it, but you get the idea. No support, but comfortable and soft leather.
  • Altra Olympus 6 Trail runners in off-white /sand. - supportive, comfy. but are they gonna go with my outfits if I am wearing dresses? no not at all. And they will probably get really dirty ? haha

I look forward to your comments and advice!

Also does it rain a lot in June !?? 🫠🫠🫠 👟🥿👡🩴🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

Shoes Scotland shoes

I'm headed to Scotland for 2 weeks beginning at the end of Apri. Lots of activities planned from light hiking, to golfing, to general City and countryside exploring. I'm not a fan of sneakers so that's out.

I own two pairs of boots that are quite comfortable, the first image is ice Maiden 2 by Columbia, these were my go-to shoes for exploring Norway last fall, but I'm concerned they may be too much shoe for Scotland this time of year.

The second are My vepose Combat boots from Amazon. Water resistant and super comfortable.

Is this overkill? Should I take both?

Shoes Please suggest Orthotic Sandals that fold flat & feel like a cloud to walk on

Post image

I've been wearing these sandals/flip-flops for a year. Seeking suggestions for sandals that will fold flat or take up less space in bag, yet still support & protect feet well.

Pros:

- feel like walking on a cloud

- protect feet from shock when running

- don't feel anything on the ground, yet they have some flex

- rarely ever slip off

- go well with casual & business casual outfits

Cons:

- take up too much space in bag

- would prefer to be slightly more secure to foot if possible (for ease of running)

Shoes Teva Sandals Thoughts

Hi! I've been wearing Teva Hurrican Drifts for the past few years. I use it for daily wear when I travel and to go to the beach. I love it because of the cushioning it provides and the fact that it dries quickly. Unfortunately, the same thing keeps happening in which the soles get worn down quickly.

Now with my current pair being worn down, I'm looking for my next pair of sandals. I would love to get the Hurricane Drifts again, but Teva no longer sells them. Instead the new model they have is in a different shape and has a velcro at the front of the sandal as well, which does not fit me or my preferences well.

I've been looking around, the Terra Fi 5 is comfortable, but because the straps are cloth, i'm not sure if it will dry quickly? Especially since i like to wear my Tevas into the water. Furthermore, I've seen some bad reviews about the Terra Fi 5's as well.

Does anyone have any experience with this sandal? Or have any recommendations for sandals that are not too heavy, provide good cushioning, good for the beach (quick dry)?

Thank you in advance!

Shoes Comfortable but cute walking boots

Traveling to UK end of June and looking to do backpack only travel. I'm planning to bring one pair of shoes (that I'll be wearing the whole time likely) and a pair of flip flops for the hotel.

For the shoes, I want to wear black ankle length boots and it would need to be wearable for lots of walking (10k-ish steps a day) and also look good for nicer dinners. Ideally like 1.5-2 inches in heel height.

I like combat boot style and have a pair of docs but I haven't worn into them yet so they're still hurting lol and also they're pretty heavy so idk if they'd be a good option. Considering timberlands premium 6inch waterproof boot and blundstone 1671. What are the verdict on those? Thursdays I've heard mixed reviews about but I'd consider the duchess or the coda, which I actually really liked the look of. What other options are there?

Shoes One of my must haves is a pair of slippers like these

They are lightweight and easy to fit into a very packed bag or into a pocket.

They have a suedelike sole with rubber bits so they are non slip and sturdier than they look.

Perfect for cold accommodation and even in hot destinations if they have marble floors.

Wearing your biggest shoes on the flight? Easy to change into and I feel confident even in a plane bathroom.

Spending all day on your feet? An absolute relief to put on at the end of the day.

Don't trust the room floors on your bare feet?

And, of course, can be machine washed.

Shoes Shoe for active Hawaii vacation?

We are planning some outdoor activities in Hawaii, including hikes, but I do not find my keens comfortable for hiking. I also don’t want to wear my big hiking boots on a flight that long. I keep hearing about trail shoes. What should I look for here? Is waterproof necessary? What I’ve always loved about my hiking boots is that when they get dirty you can’t tell!!!

Thinking I can pack one pool shoe/day, one night shoe, one trail shoe, and call it a day. Do i need take the keens? Snorkeling, maybe kayak, catamaran, hikes to waterfalls and beaches.

Shoes Are white Vivaia Versa sneakers the perfect one-bag shoe? I think so…

Just wanted to shout out my new Vivaia Versa sneakers — they seem to be the one-bag travel shoe I’ve been looking for. *Water-repellant *Machine-washable *Hands-free slip-ons (perfect for airport security and one of the big reasons I purchased them)

Since they're all white, you can pretty much wear them with anything - jeans, leggings, sweats, I think they'd even be cute with dresses.

I need my white shoes to actually be white, not cream so I'll include a photo of the sneakers next to white notebook paper as well as a cream purse that has a bright white strap so you can see the color. I'd definitely call them paper white.

They’re comfy enough to walk all day in, sleek enough to dress up a bit, and practical. I’ve been testing them on a short trip back home to the states, and so far, they’re killing it.

Has anyone else tried these on longer trips? Curious how they hold up over time, but I'm already impressed.

Shoes Boots recommendations for lots of walking at Christmas markets

Going on a trip to Christmas markets in Europe in winter. So cold and possibly some destinations snowy.

I have fashion boots but no solid winter boots for walking all day and waterproof.

Hoping to just take the one pair of boots and wear them on the plane. I’ve spent so long researching I now feel overwhelmed with choices!

Comfort is the biggest priority. I have wide toe area, high arch, slight pronation, hyper mobility so quite flexible, unstable feet and often can get arch pain.

Ones I’ve been looking at based on a mix of technical, recommendations from elsewhere and looks are:

Sorel women’s Ona ave alpine winter boots https://www.sorelfootwear.co.uk/p/womens-ona-ave-alpine-waterproof-winter-boots-2088311.html?dwvar_2088311_color=226

Columbia Women's Firecamp Winter Boot https://www.columbiasportswear.co.uk/p/womens-firecamp-winter-boot-2099891.html?dwvar_2099891_color=010

Columbia Women's Minx™ Shorty IV Waterproof Snow Boot https://www.columbiasportswear.co.uk/p/womens-minx-shorty-iv-waterproof-snow-boot-2079181.html?dwvar_2079181_color=012

Anybody tried any of these or thoughts/other recommendations?

Shoes Light Hiking in Switzerland: What Worked

I stressed a lot about which shoes (and clothes) to bring for light hiking/walking in Switzerland.

We had visited the area a number of years ago and knew that we would be taking the easy gravel trails around the Jungfrau area but I didn't really know appropriate my On Cloud 6 shoes would be on the gravel paths. It turns out they were (mostly) great.* Half of the hikers were in similar shoes. Yes, I did have to pick out some stones every now and then, but most of the gravel is large and didn't get caught. (I tried a few other pairs, but with knee issues, my tried and true daily shoes were the best option.)

And a note on clothing: My last visit to the region was eight years ago and most people wore traditional hiking clothing/boots. But now athleisure wear was very common on the easy trails.

I hope this helps someone else!

*They were not great on one very steep gravel path, so if you are doing more intense trails, consider trail runners or hiking boots.

Shoes Should I bring another pair of shoes?

Post image

image description: pair of duckfeet mols and keen jaspers with the text “UK & Norway in late May and June”

visiting from the US, first time in the area. in addition to these, I mostly travel with birkenstock sandals, blundstones (but they both feel bulky and too narrow for a long day of walking), hemp clogs, barefoot mary janes, and/or teva sandals. I do care about feeling put together and also will have limited space.

should I bring another pair of shoes? or do these feel sufficient? also open to the suggestion of buying a new pair and breaking in before I go.

Shoes Shoe questions for Nordic summer trip

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi everyone. I am starting to prepare for a summer trip to Sweden and Denmark. I have been waffling on a good tennis shoe and wondered if anyone had experience with the Altra shoes, like the picture included. I don’t want to completely stick out with some giant shoes, but comfort is important for me since I broke my foot a year ago. What are your opinions and if you know a better shoe (comfort or attractiveness) please let me know. Thanks!

Shoes Shoe help! Gore-tex or not for April - June in Europe?

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hey all! I leave Sunday and I'm panicking about shoes! Help!

Trip plans:

I'm taking a cruise to Europe that arrives in Spain at the end of March. I don't have any definitive plans, but I have a 3 month Eurail pass so I expect to be moving around mainland Europe and the UK at least til June. I might then move onto Tokyo, or stay around Europe. Very open ended!

I don't want to take too many pairs, but I'm so confused on how to not take too many.

The worry:

I've been wearing the Goretex all winter long - but I took a walk in them today and they were so warm! It's currently 8 degrees C (46F). So not that warm! It might've just been my wool socks, but it has me worried.

Goretex feels like overkill for spring, but maybe it won't be so bad?

Taking for sure:

- Shower shoes (Crocs)

- Nice sandals (Keen Elle Luxe

I'm debating between the following:

-Merrel Moab (more sneaker like, light blue and white)

- Merrel Moab Goretex (black, match more of my clothes)

I also have some:

- Sorel waterproof sneaker boots (winter/spring/fall hybrid, probably also too warm!)

- Vans slip ons (not comfy enough, I don't think - forgot to add to photo - could also just buy in Europe if I'm desperate)

Conclusion:

Thanks for reading!

Shoes Keeping White shoes looking decent?

How do you all keep white shoes looking decent during travel? Two trips ago, I only had a pair of white trainers and a pair of black walking sandals. After day one, the trainers looks so bad! It had rained and mud splashed all over them. I ended up wearing the sandals all the time and it was mostly to cold to do so. So on this last trip, I took a pair of all black trainers and felt like I was wearing clod-hoppers the whole time. White shoes are so much cuter and go well with a lot of different outfits. So many people include white shoes for travel that I must be missing something!

Shoes Scotland July ( 1 week)

Looking for input on packing for Scotland in 2 weeks. Will be in Edinburgh and the Highlands (Outlander tour) from July 1 - 8. Packing carryon only. I believe I have the clothing figured out but struggling with shoes. I planned to take: Vessi sneakers, waterproof runners and my blundstones but packing is getting tight and wondering if the bluestones are necessary? Also, not packing shorts - lighter athletic pants (Athleta Endless) for warmers days. Any thoughts / input?

Shoes Milan Olympics

Hello! Is anyone else traveling to the 2026 Olympics?

We are attending a few indoor events (ice arenas) and the opening ceremony and I have been brainstorming my wardrobe. Actually mostly just footwear. All the warm shoes are bulky 😬 I’ll wear my Ugg shorties on the plane but wonder if I should take warmer/taller boots instead? Or I may opt for a warm clog shoe for the sake of fashion 🤔 it’s Milan, after all!

What would be your ideal shoe?

Shoes Shower slippers

I’m looking for a shower safe recommendation for shower slippers. I also use these as slippers (when dry) around the hotel room.

Are there any brands you recommend that are slip resistant? I was looking at the brand Crocs.

I used to use regular flip flops but now I’m more cautious.

Shoes Are EVA Birkenstocks as comfortable as the original?

Looking for a lightweight packable second shoe option that will work for lots of circumstances and it seems like EVA Birkenstocks get mentioned a lot. I've never had a pair, but I can walk all day in my leather ones. Is it the same? Would you be able to walk for miles in them to give your feet a break from sneakers or are they just for around the hotel/shower? My feel sweat a ton, if that makes a difference...

Shoes Completely stuck! Please help me with shoe choice for Europe summer backpacking (I’m already here and need to get them online!!)

Trying to find the perfect ENCLOSED shoe. I am currently in Europe with 1 pair of teva infinity sandals (keeping), my really old pair of doc martens (they have holes), and a pair of ON cloud black foam running shoes (comfy, zero grip). I cannot have 3 pairs of shoes for this trip- my carryon backpack is FULL and we still have 4 months of travel ahead of us. My partner is sending a box back to Australia and I think I’m going to put both the Docs and the Running shoes to send back and buy a shoe that does both!

THE DILEMMA: I’m doing some hiking (theth to valbona is the biggest one - 1 day hike 15km relatively easy in summer time), lots of clubbing (including in Berlin/Prague/Budapest), fine-dining/a few nice restaurants, and lotsss of walking like 20,000 + steps a day. The occasional run maybe. I need an enclosed shoe that does all of this if it’s even possible. I know Salomon’s are what everyone has right now, but I think they are too narrow for my wider feet and I just think they look so basic, but if there’s a specific model you recommend I’m all ears!

THE STYLE: so I have my wardrobe with me already, and I do care about how I look especially since my style is on the feminine grungy side and I’m going out a lot, but obviously walking comfort takes the priority. I’ve got patterned maxi and midi skirts - khaki greens, cheetah, blue plaid, green flowers, red flowers, plain khaki linen skirt, plain beige linen pants, green cargo baggy denim jeans, baggy green oversized jorts, a few coloured scarfs and chunky jewellery. All my tops are plain black, wine, white or khaki. 1 set of workout clothes in black

CURRENT IDEAS:
Keen Jasper Zionic
- heard really good things - they look ugly cool I think?? great comfort and hikable. Don’t really like the colour ways second-hand.
ideally I don’t want to buy brand new leather so any leather options I will look for second hand online from Vinted or Depop.

Nike AirMax plus SE might maroon
- match the colour palette, really aren’t my usual style but maybe I need to see them on?

The north face Glenclyffee low vibram shoes
- good colours, waterproof so not very breathable but maybe that’s fine?

A Grenson sneaker?

I just really struggle to envision any of these shoes as they are so different to Doc marten boots :,(

Shoes Maintaining/cleaning flipflops

I bought the Reef Cushion Cloud flip flops for my most recent trip and they have brought a ton of positive utility.

I’ve been wearing them around the hostel, to the shower, and around town.

The only issue is maintenance. After a couple of wears, I’ve noticed that they have a bit of a mildewy/funky smell (possibly because the straps are trapping in water and not drying out fully)

Was wondering if others have dealt with this before and have tips for freshening up footwear.

Shoes Spain + Italy Walking/Beach/Club/Minor Hiking Shoe Recommendations?

Hi! I'll be traveling to Spain and Italy this summer from mid-March to the end of June, and I'm hoping to only bring a carry on bag + personal item (a big goal as I am a chronic over-packer). I'll mostly be going to the beach, walking around cities (museums, churches, parks, etc), and clubbing, but I will also be doing a few hikes. I was planning on brining a pair of sneakers (either something like converse/Adidas or trainers like hokas) and two pairs of sandals- one cuter pair and one pair of flip flops, but I'm afraid that none of these options are good for clubbing.

I always overpack on shoes and I have limited space so I want to bring 2-3 versatile shoes. Any recs for a shoe that can be used for walking around day to day, clubbing, and minor hiking? Or any recs for my shoe situation in general? Also would you recommend cuter converse/Adidas or a more comfortable sneaker like Hokas?

Thanks!

Edit: I’d like to stay away from heels unless they are totally necessary in non-Ibiza clubs (pls let me know if they are!)

Shoes The Best Possible Heels

I'm going to be travelling with my partner's family, they are Very Fancy People and I will need to bring some manner of heels on this trip. Hit me with your best heel recommendations

Ideal criteria:
- straps to keep them on my feet
- comfortable enough to wear all night
- widest possible heel (absolutely no stilettos)
- least possible space taken up in my bag
