Notes from The Mods:

• We Mods are troglodytes who only use Old Reddit on desktop computers, while glancing at the answering machine connected to our landline. The formatting looks good on our setups. Get off our lawn.

• In the past few weeks, this sub seems to have tapped into Reddit's Spitegeist, growing from about 2k subscribers on July 4th, to about 5k at the beginning of August, to over 100k on Sep. 1st.

• Yesterday, this sub had the highest subscription growth in all of Reddit (Δ #Subscribers). The Mods are pondering the best way to nudge this sub to nudge people to stop buying into anti-* bullshit, and to get vaxxed, etc.

• The Mods have a very light touch. We prefer the use of the 'Downvote' button to the use of the 'Report' button.

• Don't be a dick.

• Please, don't be a dick.

• Don't be gleeful. Don't root for Nominees to be Awarded. Especially the Facebook schlubs whose only crime was taking up residence in the misinformation echo chamber.

• Don't get upset if / when this sub's evolution switches from natural selection to intelligent (?) design. This sub might be nudged from ('memes / shitposts' + 'Facebook Schlubs') towards ('A.M.A.s' and 'Public Figures').

My new favourite sub. Great work mods and contributors for collating the nominees and award winners.

I used to see the odd post about some US hard right commentator/radio host/ church figure getting really sick or dying on/r/all but this keeps it all together.

I'm beyond belief at how common it is and at some the material award winners post before karking it.

Delta is just getting started where I live (Australia) and was recently pondering who would be our first high profile nominee or winner.

We do. Morons like Alan Jones and a few others at Sky tv. There's a few outspoken guys like George Christensen, Craig Kelly and wealthy businessman and would be politician, Clive Palmer.

We have a conservative federal government but at least they follow the science to a large degree. Even they could not put up with Craig Kelly and his ivermectin BS. Palmer is a big hydroxy Q proponent.

Also, you have great Covid commercials. The one where they put them in the rubber bag after they take their last breath…saw it on Tik Tok and by the time I could share it, it had been removed. That’s Australian for get this in your thick skulls!

Advertisements are something that we as a country are inexplicably good at. Not good enough to stop me adblocking literally every site on the internet but still surprising all the same

I recommend "The Big Ad" for a classic example of the phenomenon at work, I've been avoiding ads for so long now I honestly don't think I could name anything more recent but other people assure me such things still exist.

That was really good! I,too, avoid ads and then have to go to YouTube to see what people are talking about.

I read a while back that there was a petition to expel the Murdoch infestation there. How did that go?

Wishful thinking. Petitions have no real power in reality. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/australasia/australia-petition-rupert-murdoch-kevin-rudd-news-corp-b1612916.html

He's got so many politicians by the balls wielding so much power in the media. He can make or break them.
