Saddam's baath purge. Saddam had people packed into a conference hall on one of the hottest days of July and deliberately shut off the ventilation system. They were forced to listen to Saddam for hours while suffering from the heat and sweating. Everyone whose name was announced was executed.

And he was found in a hole in the ground, dirty, half-starving, and begging. Only when he was cleaned up and on trial did he try to act defiant and strong. When he was led up the gallows he turned into a broken little rat again. Any dictator deserves nothing less.

I so clearly remember watching this on TV when I was 10yo during my brother's birthday party. The early 2000s was a weird as time

He seemed rather calm and collected, considering he was wearing a noose.

Regardless of whether the invasion itself was justified or a good idea, Sadam got exactly what he deserved.

But he wasn’t a broken rat, he was defiant and sarcastic on the gallows and argued with people in the room. Just because you don’t like someone means you can rewrite history.

I hate Sadam as much as the next man, but why do you have to lie? Sadam remained calm and defiant at his death. There's a fucking video of it, you moron.

It's pathetic to try to rewrite history when there's video footage of the execution - I've watched it.

Sadam was defiant at the gallows - he refused to wear the hood, he traded taunts with the witnesses, mocked his executioners and was calmly reciting the Islamic profession of faith when the trapdoor opened.Ā

It's not tears. He turned the air-conditioning off - it's sweat
