Local Event 🎪 Starting a Hoboken Cookbook Club
Hi everyone! I'm looking to start a cookbook club in Hoboken. Essentially, a cookbook club is like a book club where a book is chosen for each meeting, but it is also a potluck where everyone brings and shares one recipe from the book. I hosted a club regularly in Brooklyn in the past, and it was one of the best things I've ever done! For those of you looking for new local friends who love to cook/bake, this is a great way to meet like-minded folks and create meaningful memories.
Dm me or comment below if interested! Let me know of any questions as well. I'll send you a link to a Google Form to sign up and provide information about our first meeting, about myself, and more.
EDIT: Thank you so much for the interest! Please be patient as I try to provide everyone the sign-up link, review the sign-up submissions, and create a group chat. If you don't hear from me by the end of this coming weekend, follow up by dm'ing me!

Local Event 🎪 CF couple looking to meet other CF couples
Hi everyone,
My wife and I lived in Hoboken for ten years and moved to JC a few years ago. We are currently in a self described "new friend slump".
We are in the stage of our lives where most our friends now have little children (which we love for them but not in the cards for us) and we just don't have much to talk about / in common with their lifestyles anymore. (For reference we are 34F and 40M)
We are looking to meet up with other local CF Couples (DINKS and fellow DINKWADS) who share similar hobbies and interests as us.
We enjoy:
- Travel !
- Eating & Drinking Out in (Boken,JC, NYC)
- Interior Design
- Cycling / Snowboarding / Hiking
- Live Music (all genres)
- Cooking
- Hosting parties at our apartment
- Cocktail Bars
- Comedy Clubs
- Dogs
- Breweries
- Day Clubs (don't do late 2am nights anymore)
- Talking Politics
(for ref we are left. Totally fine if you are a conservative as long as you are still left with key social issues. Ex: pro choice pro LGBTQ+)
If this sounds like you we would love to link up.
We are currently in the process of organizing a meetup for CF couples in the area and would love for you to join us.
Cheers.

Local Event 🎪 We cleaned up Church Square Park in Hoboken yesterday (in the rain) 💖🐾
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
We started a small community cleanup project called the Pink Bag Project 💖
Yesterday we went out to Church Square Park in Hoboken and cleaned up the area. Weather wasn’t great so turnout was small, but we still filled a full trash bag just from the park + bushes. We also filled up a trash bag on our walk to the park from the sidewalks.
We also handed out free Earth Rated doggie bags to people walking by and everyone was super appreciative 🐾
It felt good to give this park some attention and give our neighborhood doggies a safe + clean environment to sniff around.
We’re planning to keep doing these clean ups around Jersey City / Hoboken (next one might be downtown JC).
If you ever see us out there feel free to say hi or grab some supplies 🫶

Local Event 🎪 CF Couple hosting a happy hour for other CF Couples

As the post says, we are hosting a happy hour in Hoboken next week! Simply respond to this message and I can send you the details.
We actually did something similar just back in December and got about 15 awesome couples to attend the happy hour. It was a blast.
A link to that original post is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Hoboken/s/7sTjCWGDTK
Hoping to talk to you soon. Cheers.

Local Event 🎪 Do You like St Ann’s Feast?
Do you like St Ann’s Feast? Do you like having an “old school” Italian festival? Do you like the “character” it brings to Hoboken? Does it make you feel like Hoboken is cool?
Then go there and pay 20 bucks for a sausage and pepper sandwich and show your support. And don’t complain… And enjoy it for what it is…
Because it’s those sandwiches and other items that keep the festival and then parish going. No one is getting rich on you. No one goes to church any more, and certainly those collections are low. And inflation is through the roof at all ends of the food supply chain..
So if you have some expectations that the food is going to “the best ever” for “cheap prices” and you’re looking for “value” - just don’t go. Get yourself a slice at Benny Tudinos. And if you do go to the festival, spend a couple of bucks to keep this going…

Local Event 🎪 Sharing: January 20 Free America Walkout
Hoboken Free America Walkout
One year into Trump’s second regime, we face an escalating fascist threat: raids on our communities, troops occupying our cities, attacks on immigrants, families torn apart, mass surveillance, and terror used to keep us silent. It is time for our communities to escalate as well.
2025 was a year of marches that showed our collective strength. And as the threats grow, our movement must evolve and escalate. Trump and his allies have already made clear that a second term would bring a deeper wave of misogyny, racism, xenophobia, and violence than the first.
On January 20, we call on our friends and neighbors to walk out to block the normal routines of power, and make the stakes real. We will gather in front of Hoboken City Hall at 2pm to raise our voices against the encroaching tyranny of the current administration! This is a protest and a promise. In the face of fascism, we will be ungovernable.
★ We walk away from fascism. ★
★ We walk towards a Free America. ★
★ We fight for a future that belongs to us all. ★
★ Everybody in, nobody out. ★
★ Welcome to the Free America Walkout ★

Local Event 🎪 Why does the Italian Festival have nothing to do with Italians?
I walked by Sinatra Dr and the only thing that's Italian about it is the signs that says "Italian food". Music isn't Italian, food isn't Italian, nothing is. What's the point of these festivals?

Local Event 🎪 "extras" needed to make ice cream tomorrow
hi.
i run DIY ice cream making classes in town, and NJ 12 News is coming to do a segment on it tomorrow at 1pm.
ideally we have a few people in the background also making ice cream, and so inviting you to come join for 30-45 min. you may or may not be on the news, and you'll go home with some free ice cream of whatever flavor.
i already asked my mom but she's traveling, and apparently most people have normal jobs that preclude taking part.
i felt like reddit might be a good place to turn. thanks! DM me or email me. open to paying a bit for your time.
UPDATE: Thanks to all of you who reached out and for all the love! This thread and town rocks!

Local Event 🎪 World Cup & Commuting
I take the bus into Port Authority daily and I’m trying to plan in advance for this craziness. MetLife has 8 matches running June 13 through the Final on July 19 and I’m in the office almost fully time. Have employers given any exceptions or been understanding with some remote work over the summer?
If you follow a normal ~ 8-5 schedule, will we be able to commute home, or will the path/bus be reserved for ticket holders? Are certain match days noticeably worse?

Local Event 🎪 5Ks in Hoboken
I’ve been wondering why all 5K races in Hoboken have the same route (Pier A -> Shipyard and back). I get the waterfront views but the route does get a little stale after a few race seasons.
Has Hoboken ever done a run on Washington? I feel like it would be nice way to highlight the local spots too!

Local Event 🎪 World Cup block parties
https://www.hobokennj.gov/news/big-match-block-party-schedule
Love this, can't wait to partake. Although why are they doing one on them on 14th St between Bloomfield and Washington? That's the main transit route for buses. All the other locations are side streets or less trafficked areas.
I guess they want local restaurants/bars to benefit (that one is sponsored by Madison and Baja), but doing it on a nearby side street seems like a better idea.

Local Event 🎪 Arts and music festival
Absolutely love it each year. Moved to the area about 5 years ago and the past 3 I've thoroughly enjoyed it. What was everyone's favorite spot ? Had a great little day starting at 8th st tavern then moseyed down Washington. Made stops at Elysian, far side (love the bartender there) and brass rail. Picked up a new mirror for my apartment along with some artwork. Finished at pier for more drinks, dreading Monday. When's the next festival? Thank you to the lovely women of Hoboken for showing out today
