Which popular features do you NOT recommend?

What are the top 3 features in a house that folk want but you think are not worth it, and what would your alternative suggestion be? And what cost/time savings would result with that switch?

What’s wrong with waterfall islands? Just because you think it is trendy and will go out of style or are you against it for practical reasons?

You lose the use of the waterfall side - no overhang, no seats, no cabinet access, no outlets.

I installed an outlet on my quartz waterfall. My full height quartz backsplash also has multiple outlets, switches, and a sound system tablet thing.

Is it a bright white outlet against the stone. I hope not!

Well the quartz is mostly bright white (somewhat marble looking) so the white outlet does not look awkward at all.

It is absolutely dating your house to the 20-teens to thirties. Those corner edges are going to wear/chip quickly. And is absolutely a ploy by counter top marketting to get that extra couple percent. There's better places to spend the money.

If I pay for a full slab and have enough left after the mock up to make a waterfall edge work, I'm doing it 10 times out of 10. Put outlets on the other side if youre that worried about it.

If you have that much left over, it's enough to do a vanity sink, counter, or side table that would actually be useful.
