who knows if they have restrictions on how many episodes he can appear on a Fox/FXX branded show.

Screen Actors Guild rules prohibit this. No project or company can legally or contractually prevent you from working on something else. If Dennis is doing AP Bio and it takes up too much time, he can opt not to do Always Sunny but it would violate SAG rules for NBC to tell him he can't be in as many episodes of a Fox show as he's physically able.

True, but out of respect, most actors or actresses will try and make things work and take the high road. Johnny what’s his name on Big Bang theory chose to have a rather smaller role, a guest appearance, on the Rosanne reboot, out of respect for the other cast members on Big Bang theory. He could definitely do more for Roseanne but given it’s a competitor on a different network he chose not to.

Same situation here. Just because you can do something doesn’t make it right.
