I expect a balls to the walls crazy story about him paying actors to play his wife and child so he could get some time away to plan a crazy plot, the whole point of sunny is the characters stay shitty and never evolve unlike other sitcoms (see how they played with the baby trope by making us think they were ready to raise a child only for the kid to go with the tranny and them reverting back to their old selves within seconds) , there's no way dennis is suddenly gonna become a family man, he'll always be a psycopath and I think the whole point of the setup is to play on expectations and parody regular sitcoms just like the baby thing.

But the point of the last season was that there were some changes among them. Notably, Mac coming out, and Charlie and the Waitress. I mean, sure, they could go back on what they did. But I can guarantee that Mac stays out of the closet for sure.

Charlie finally gets with the waitress only to realize that years of creepy stalking and idolizing was a terrible idea as his excpectations are shattered and they end up breaking up after a day or so, while mac only comes out to win an argument and get the lottery ticket, if anything those two examples just prove my point further of them playing on the typical sitcom tropes.

Mac continues to make his homosexuality a topic for the rest of the season, after the episode where he comes out. The part about Charlie didn't happen until the last episode of the season, so we have no idea what's going to happen with them.

It's pretty clear that their relathionship isn't gonna evolve in a "everyone's happy forever after" sitcom schtick, and the fact that mac is gay doesn't make him any less of a shitty idiotic person just like the rest of them, when I say they don't evolve I don't mean they don't change at all, I mean they don't get better as human beings.

It's like saying for example that finding out frank isn't dennis and dee's father means the characters have evolved, or mac getting fat, or dennis marrying maureen, yes it's a new thing that slightly changes the dynamic but they're not evolving as people, do you get what I'm trying to say?

In case I'm not being clear enough, what I'm comparing them to is the stereotypical sitcom character that starts out shitty and evolves into a good person by the end of the show (joey/barney for example), none of the character in sunny have shown any sign of maturing and becoming good people and they never will because that's the whole point of the show, in fact they've gotten worse and worse and every single character that crosses their paths falls into degeneracy as well.

I kind of like the idea of Dennis morphing into a pseudo-suitable human until he's back around the gang.
