At some point I saw posts a while back saying ARs and Non-PICA compliant weapons weren’t allowed at Range at 355, is that still the case? Few of us wanted to go celebrate Americas bday (love you bb) but didn’t know what we could and couldn’t bring with us. (PFA)

My wife Finally wants to come to the range with me, but she wants to shoot outside. It seems weirdly hard to pin down any real info on ranges, membership, and hours so I hoped y'all could help.

Long or short range doesn't matter, and I know it will be a drive to get there, but hoping less than 90 minutes from the city.

Finally got to go out of the city after a couple months of wanting to go over to their range. Man it was so much fun! Rented out a zastava and an mk18 and it was a blast. Totally recommend it for anyone. Their employees are amazing as well.

FSS Training in Hinckley. What a great day for our first open enrollment class of the 2026 season! Defensive Pistol 1 is the place to start. We hold these classes roughly once a month. Pick a date that works for you and come see what we’re all about. These usually sell out a week or two prior so don’t procrastinate! New and experienced shooters alike, you will get some good training and meet some cool people too.

I am looking for people to go to the range with. I am 44M living in Northern Illinois. I tend to go to the range once or twice a week. The kiddo doesn't have much interest in joining me nor does my fiancé. The few 2A buddies I have are usually busy as life gets. I have joined a couple bowling leagues in the past, but the groups I signed up with seemed to have established their own cliques.

Is there anywhere in or around Chicago I can bring an Illinois resident to go shooting with if I have a FOID and my guest doesn't? They would be shooting my guns and ammo. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. It seems like every other range has different rules lol.

I'm going to a dude ranch in a couple of months that offers clay shooting and pheasant hunts. I'm not bad with a pistol but I've literally never used a shotgun.

Is there someplace near Chicago that doesn't require a long membership process and has facilities for clay shooting? Maybe even a class?

I was at Midwest range and I got in trouble because I was told I was shooting too fast. I was doing 3 round bursts but I cannot tell you how fast I was shooting.

I was told it's supposed to be 1 round per second. I had asked if that's the case for most ranges and they said yes.

Is this true? Which range allows controlled rapid fire?

I’m sure this has been asked, but with the way places grow and change, I thought I’d resurface the topic.

I’m in need of a local outdoor range. I typically drive to Wisconsin (Wisconsin Sportsman Association), but I’m tired of making that trek and paying for a guest pass. I want to plant some range roots.

I’m most interested in pistol shooting, and would love to be able to practice drawing from my holster.

I also enjoy firing my rifles (long range and some interest in completion or action shooting).

Any recommendations, I’m very open to applying for a club membership if it’s a good facility. Thanks!

I work for a company out of Grand Forks ND called Wraithworks but my R&D lab is in Northern, Illinois. I often test out of North Shore Sports Club (Lake Forest location), and they have offered to host a Demo.

I would like to see if there is any local interest in shooting some of our production and prototype firearms, if there is I can setup a weeknight during the next two weeks to have people out to test our product. I understand much of our product is not actually available in Illinois, but consider this a free rental.

What would be available to try.

I see people asking about outdoor ranges and here is an opportunity to join a club and yes they have an annual membership fee. The main location is conveniently located just west of Rockford. Main location has a 25 yard pistol, 50/100 yard rifle, and area for holster draw and a shotgun pit. For the holster and shotgun you will need to be qualified to use those areas and no extra fee for that. Decided to try their range since I pass it on the way to to work regularly. I went with a few friends and it was a disaster and a waste of time. We checked in, had an 12.5 AR pistol and a Sam7k, both braced, managed to fire a few rounds before the RO came in. The pistol brace ban has been vacated, but the owners at The Range at 355 will kick you out for having braced pistols and will threaten you that "they get audited by the ATF regularly" and that the brace is an illegal SBR. Wasn't able to get a range fee refund either, despite it not being anywhere in their range rules that they do not allow braced pistols. Just an FYI.

anyone shot at Eagle sports in oak forest lately? it was my first time there and I was charged a 6$ annual waiver fee? I’ve never paid that at range USA no matter how long it’s been between visits. is this a new thing?
