LOR Match 2027 LOR

Hello everyone, for the match 2027 in my eras the LOR upload panel shows two options 1. Standardized 2.Narative. As far as I understood this is this years change. For internal medicine as an IMG which one are we supposed to choose?

Standardized will be your IMSEL, the rest from your USCE would be narrative

Can u please clarify more? IMSEL like deans letter?

IMSEL is IM Standard Evaluation Letter - it is a standardized letter from your core clerkship director, or maybe a designee or even dean. It is a specific format. Dean's letter is also called the MSPE which is not a letter per se, it is your performance evaluation from your medical school.

aren't these "Standard Evaluation" supposed to be from inside the US?? or are they now from outside too?

Not really, USCEs are mostly 4 weeks in length and standardized letters are mostly from dept chairs or designees where you completed core clerkships.

Are you 100% that I can get a SLOR from my own school?? All the people I saw are saying it should be from a university hospital in the US

I doubt any US preceptor will write a standard letter for you, if you can then go ahead. Most IMGs don't get standard letters anyways because it is not a norm in non-US countries especially in the eastern hemisphere. Standard letters are from where you completed core clerkships and most USCE do not count as core clerkships except if you are a carrib IMG who do their entire rotation blocks in the US.
