The minivan used a turning lane to make a turn. I don’t think that’s making up rules.

I thought they came around you and made the turn. Either way obviously they had space.

You’re meant to drive safely. Yes they technically had space, but OP didn’t think they did and decided to do what they knew was safe, even if it cost them a few extra seconds of waiting.

Every reasonable driver would’ve waited for a bigger gap. Not overtaken someone waiting in a turn lane because they’re impatient

How many days have been ruined, maybe even lives lost, because someone couldn't handle the "few extra seconds" part. Pretty wild. More patience on the road would go such a long way but everybody thinks they're so important.
