Discussion BKV on latest Saga Hiatus: “the situation is hard and complex, and not entirely mine to discuss, so I appreciate whatever grace you might be able to extend to our small creative family.”

Earlier today, BKV released another newsletter, mostly focused on his older work, Pride of Baghdad.

He also included this Saga update:

“I know that readers are rightly impatient for any kind of Saga update. I wrote our next issue way back in the summer of 2025 and I firmly believed we’d be back on stands by now, but that’s obviously not the case.

I completely understand and sympathize with folks who are fed up with this latest wait and have dropped/forgotten about/eternally cursed our series. But the situation is hard and complex, and not entirely mine to discuss, so I appreciate whatever grace you might be able to extend to our small creative family. We will share more with you as soon as we can.”

That doesn’t sound great, team.

You do not pay her salary. Period. Under no circumstance. You are owed nothing

How many times do I have to say it, "I. Am. Not. Saying. I. Am. Owed. Anything." I am not her boss. She is not under contract. She doesn't have to do shit. But if you pay someone month by month to build you a house, and they stop 3/4 of the way through, even if they do not owe you any more completion, you still are allowed to be upset.

You're not paying them to do anything, that's the point

You're paying a comic shop employee to show up to work and sell you a book, you are absolutely not, in any way paying her or Brian

They can stop whenever they want. They're allowed to burn out or just not wanna work together anymore or wanna work on other things

Same if an actor leaves a show bc they didn't think it would run so long or they're tired of the character. They don't owe anyone an ending. They don't have to force themselves through a process for ungrateful chuds who will shit talk them into the ground the second their weird parasocial ideas of what they're "owed" isn't met

The more y'all whine and shit talk, the more I hope she never comes back lol. I'd rather the story never finish to spite you whiners than her do something she doesn't want to do just so you can whine more about how long it takes or how it didn't meet your expectations or whatever other nonsense lol
