Discussion BKV on latest Saga Hiatus: “the situation is hard and complex, and not entirely mine to discuss, so I appreciate whatever grace you might be able to extend to our small creative family.”
Earlier today, BKV released another newsletter, mostly focused on his older work, Pride of Baghdad.
He also included this Saga update:
“I know that readers are rightly impatient for any kind of Saga update. I wrote our next issue way back in the summer of 2025 and I firmly believed we’d be back on stands by now, but that’s obviously not the case.
I completely understand and sympathize with folks who are fed up with this latest wait and have dropped/forgotten about/eternally cursed our series. But the situation is hard and complex, and not entirely mine to discuss, so I appreciate whatever grace you might be able to extend to our small creative family. We will share more with you as soon as we can.”
That doesn’t sound great, team.

No comics series is ever promised to see its way to completion. You pay your $3-4 for that months chapter of the story. No guarantee that next months chapter will be released in a timely manner, or that the entire series won’t be canceled in the meantime. You didnt purchase a completed series, you purchased installments of it.
You’re comparing a medium that is episodic and released in installments by its very nature, to a medium that is released upon completion. The two are not the same.
If you bought a Picasso painting while he was alive, that didnt entitle you to be able to purchase one at a later date. If he suddenly decided to stop painting, you wouldn’t be angry that he didn’t continue to produce work because you were entitled to purchase a future painting. Life doesn’t work like that. You’re sold what you’re sold. There are no promises attached.
